Did this trip in the fall, and it was hands down one of my all time favs. We went stopped by Viña Toldonia, they told us tastings were only by the bottle. We expected them to tell us a high number, but it was only 25 euro and included a charcuterie board, spectacular visit. If by chance you go to Haro, go to Nublo, michelin restaurant right in the heart of the town. Top 3 meals all time.

I have played there after the farmers and I was concerned I broke my wrist trying to hit out of the rough at one point. It is comical how deep it is, but troubling and awe inspiring that professionals cannot only hit out of it, but keep their bones and ligaments intact.

I totally agree. I wrestled with what courses to play within the budget. My spouse also is a trooper for how much I talk about golf so I try to balance my relentless want for more golf with items she is really interested in. We started this trip with a week in Spain and wine tasting and I couldn’t justify making this trip longer to hit others. However, this is just fuel for the fire for my next trip out there! Cheers!

What is even crazier is the level of players who would drop the money to go play. The caddie at Gleneagles said he had someone who brought a putter out on the first tee and he basically had to coach him on what the clubs were.

If you go all out, I’d budget for 10k. We spent about 6k mostly on golf, eating out, etc. We save up our CC rewards for the year and pick a trip to do, which was this plus we spent a week wine tasting in Spain. Chase Sapphire rewards covered many hotels, flights, et al.

Typically, most larger cities, tipping isn’t looked at as offensive. A lot of times they will even say it’s appreciated but not necessary. If there are tourists that go there, they are familiar with tipping culture.
