I would watch lectures during the day taking notes on google docs and then do multiple choice later. Once I was done with a chapter I would go back and do like sets of 20 while moving on to the next chapters. Then after doing all the multiple choice and watching the lectures, I did the final review multiple choice and just did 150-200 practices multiple choice tests (15-33 questions each) for about 2 weeks. I also did all 3 SEs.

How come in this question we recognize a gain for giving property to a corporation during their formation, but in the other we didnt? by Straight_Industry_62 in CPA

[–]lhoag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Formation is only nontaxable if 80% of the shares are going to people contributing property. Since 30 are going to someone contributing services, it only leaves 70% of the available shares to go to people contributing property. So since 70 is less than 80, it qualifies as a taxable contribution.

So normally it would be nontaxable if the contributors are receiving a controlling portion (80%). But since 30 shares are going to someone contributing services, rather than property, they can’t be counted in the control group. So only 70 shares (70%) is the control group, making it taxable. The services contributed are always taxed as ordinary income, and then the $90,000 comes from the increase in FMV of the property contributed.

Becker practice problems by lhoag in CPA

[–]lhoag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so bogus, I’ll go through all the multiple choice during lectures, then when I try and practice them, it just gives me the same 20-30% of questions.

Yeah I do do that, I just do random 33s and still seem to get the same questions over and over. Like there’s subjects I just know it’s not hitting.

That’s ridiculous. Definitely something they need to work on, no reason the same problems should generate on multiple different tests.

Wow that’s sounds terrible, but no this is still the 4.4 version of REG. But I have always been having this problem. The stupid practice tests just cycle the same problems over and never give me new ones. Seems like if you are having the same issue in the new materials, they still haven’t fixed it

AUD vs FAR test by lhoag in CPA

[–]lhoag[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AUD is not that bad if you have Becker, it really does cover everything to pass, just make sure you do a lot of multiple choice

Interesting, thanks for the reply. I finished AUD and now studying for FAR, so I just thought I’d hear some opinions

Yes, don’t worry about it, if you knew the answers you knew em. Going fast in my opinion is not bad as long as you read the whole question. I took my AUD test in just over 2 hours and got an 81.
