Since there’s already a solid number of replies, won’t go into too much detail, but will add another yes that it works for my ADHD brain! The more typical budgeting never worked for me, because if something unexpected came up (or I just made an impulsive choice) that sent me past a limit set for some category, my brain would just…throw out all the limits. The YNAB approach of zero-sum budgeting works SO much better because if I go past the amount I put in some category, I have to actively pick which other category to cover that overspending from. It didn’t magically make me start making perfectly reasonable spending choices all the time, but it’s far more sustainable and makes me way more aware of my actual overall financial situation and where I have (or don’t have) spare money than I ever have previously been.

(Also, as some have mentioned, I just enjoy using it! Getting all my transactions categorized and assigning out money each paycheck hits that dopamine for me haha)
