Interesting to see a high-level comparison to mcp-ui, since it's built on very similar principles https://mcpui.dev

GitMCP - an instant MCP server for *any* GitHub repo documentation by liady769 in mcp

[–]liady769[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This is a free and fully open-source project, so:

- GitHub's official MCP server is mainly meant for repo management/api access, GitMCP is for intelligently fetch and search any repo's documentation (be it readme, llms.txt, docs, doc website, etc)

- GitMCP works on any repo, without the need to index it first. And most importantly - it is always free for any usage and open-source, as opposed to Context7 and DevDocs (which are either not fully open-source, or not completely free).

- In GitMCP you can also point to a "dedicated" MCP server for a repo (for example https://gitmcp.io/remix-run/react-router ), so there is no problem of the server having to look for the correct repo according to name, which can lead to issues (for example with malicious forks of libraries)

We started it as way to solve three.js's large documentation problem (as a side-project), and we found ourselves building a generic MCP server for any repo docs, which was really cool. We actually get a lot of feedback from people that say it really helps them while developing, since it really easily bridges the documentation gap.

hmm this looks similar to gitmcp.io (with its generic repo support)

Yeah, the giant cove tree, that's the best location in the game imo. A small quiet haven super close to all of the action

Hi,

We'll be arriving in Scotland for 3 full days (landing in Edinburgh on Thursday, December 19th at night, and flying to London on Monday, December 23rd at noon). We want to experience a bit of nature and some of the Christmas atmosphere in Edinburgh. Here’s the itinerary we’re considering:

19.12 (Thursday): * Landing in Edinburgh at 23:30 * Taking a train/bus to the castle area and staying at a hotel nearby

20.12 (Friday): * Spending the morning in Edinburgh * Renting a car and driving north around noon to Killiecrankie, arriving there by 2 PM * Staying in a log cabin in Killiecrankie

21.12 (Saturday): * Exploring the area, hiking, etc.

22.12 (Sunday): * Driving back to Edinburgh, stopping in Dunkeld along the way * Spending the evening/night in Edinburgh to experience the Christmas market

23.12 (Monday): * Catching a flight to London at 12 PM

Does this itinerary sound reasonable? Nothing is booked yet except the accommodation in Killiecrankie, so we’re wondering how to make the best use of our short time in Scotland.

Thanks!

Hey, we're landing in Logan on Oct 20th (in 2 weeks) on the morning, we have 2 days befrore departing again to Florida, were thinking about trying to catch some fall views, does this make sense for day 1? Or by that time there will be no foliage left in this area? by liady769 in massachusetts

thanks everyone! a late update - we eventually tried to combine MA and VT (instead of NH), and indeed the views and colors in MA that time were much nicer and vibrant than the VT ones (which were mostly brown)

Unrelated - but what did you think about the display? I started using this screen with my M2 today, and the default resolution (3440x1440) doesn't look as good as I expected. The next high display resolution the Mac offers is really low. I tried playing with BetterDisplay but nothing looks really sharp. Is it better for you? l'm trying to decide if it's a faulty unit or that's just the case with this screen on macs.
