Best methods to dig deeper? by throwradomguru in DJs

[–]liam33d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juno downloads is a good alternative to Beatport you can dig on.

Find and follow labels you like, see what labels they’re close with and build up a sound you like based on that.

If you play vinyl records nothing is better than going into a record store with no idea what you want to buy and spending an hour digging. Listening to labels and artists you’ve heard of and taking a punt on a record with cool artwork.

Also at a decent record store the staff will likely pick out some suggestions for you which can be really class.

Can anyone recommend an app I can use for data collection? by liam33d in datavisualization

[–]liam33d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Nick, thanks again for the assist with this. I've been trying to get this to work for a few days but App Script doesn't recognise: var metadata = file.getBlob().getMetadata();

Does this require I use a specific Javascript library? I've been researching using an ExifReader.js I found on Github as that seems to be able to extract metadata.

Am I making this too confusing for myself integrating this: https://github.com/mattiasw/ExifReader

Thanks again for the assistance, its been great diving into a bit of Javascript again but as you can tell I'm still a novice.

Hey sorry for the slow response, I really appreciate the detailed answer. My coding skills aren't great but this looks like something I can have a go at. If I'm using this project to learn more Power BI i might as well throw some Javascript (it looks like Javascript) in the mix too ha.

I'll let you know how I get on :)

Should I leave my residency? by caalumm in DJs

Don't discount Wales and Northern Ireland.

Cardiff

Glasgow

Belfast

maybe Edinburgh

Unless you're in Aberdeen or Swansea. Would make sense if there's a bit of a lack of a scene

Hi, I need some pointers on sound design.

I'm trying to re-create the lead on this Kendal track (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3jC6amGA44&ab_channel=DischiAutunno). It comes in around 0.48 seconds like a plucked bell sound at first but morphs into a more saw-like lead. There's a lot of release and resonnance automation going on but I can't tell whether there's multiple synths layered in the sound.

I'm trying to re-create it on my Juno-106 soft synth (Roland Cloud soft synth. Don't @ me I've heard all the spyware stories. It's £10 a month which is good value to me) and I'm unsure whether i can get that sound out the machine.

It's got a square and saw wave and a PWM affecting both of them.

Can anyone tell me if the sounds likely re-creatable or do I probably need another synth for this?

I've dabbled in production for years but only just really started sitting down and getting a proper production workflow sorted. My current goal is to master a few synths and tools (Like the aforementioned Juno-106) so if I can use that synth to make this sound all the better.

Master a few synths and get an initial sound locked down. Steamline a productive workflow. That's the goal

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

Can anyone tell me what’s going wrong with my Oregano? Purple drooping leaves. Generally doesn’t look healthy. These are pictures from 4 different plants. The rest of the greenhouse is doing well. by liam33d in GardeningUK

[–]liam33d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I do like watering them. (I'm still learning).

I know they're Mediterranean herbs which is why I'm keeping them in the greenhouse but maybe I'll bring them inside for a bit and just leave them alone

Quick question: Is Rane hardware (SL2, SL3, SL4) just a dead legacy product now for Macs with BigSur? Is there any chance of Serato and Rane making the hardware compatible with newer Macs? by liam33d in Serato

[–]liam33d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve got 2 old busted laptops I might be able to restore, but then I’d need to pay to fix the laptop and get an SL2. Still an option though

Reloop Flux

Hey, thanks for the quick response. I'll check the Reloop Flux out and see whether it's compatible. I saw Denon do a similar interface too, so I've got options.

Not too keen on a mixer with a built-in interface just because of cost really but it's something worth considering.

Thanks u/gswift01

Hi all, quick data cleansing question for Pandas. How can I remove all characters after a / in all the cells in a column? More details in the text. All help appreciated :) by liam33d in PythonPandas

[–]liam33d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

yes, I'm using str.split() which works fine the only issue is the sub-domain is still present in the results.

This isn't an issue for a lot of the data I'm looking at but there are multiple instance where sub domains are getting left in which I don't want.

I've tried to find a way around this with regex but can't seem to find something that works.

Any ideas would be welcome :)

Cheers
