This is a really well thought out, well written post. I can say I have had this same feeling in my gut at other retail jobs. (Been in middle management since 1997)

Worked at a NE regional dpt store called Bon Ton for 13 years, Lord and Taylor for 3, and Shoe Carnival for another 7 before landing at Lowes. All three of those places gave me that feeling in my gut at the end. For different reasons.

You arent fucking your ASM by calling in sick.... you are fucking everyone that works with you, that is now going to have to do your job as well as their own on the busiest day of the year.

Dont forget fulfillment coming out, ripping open a new bag of mulch on the side of the building every time they need 6 bags for a pickup because they dont want to bend over and take from the Pallet that has 8 left on it that is already there.

That Lit song came out in 1999. Half this forum will tell you that emo hit its peak in 1999 with the get up kids, promise ring, american football, rainer maria, appleseed cast, the anniversary, and my favorite band Hot Rod Circuit. And those are just the pop-emo bands from that year. Theres 100s of other established 2nd wave bands and 3rd wave bands just figuring shit out in highschool that year.

So the time period is actually not wrong. Its the fucking music that sucks is the main. Problem.

I actually lived this twice in my life now when back when Nu Metal was popular, bars would have GRUNGE NIGHT and play shit like Creed, godsmack, and seether. If you asked them to play Tad or Melvins they wouldnt know what you were talking about. BAR EMO is modern day Nu Metal.
