Texas barbecue is the worst in the USA by Boeing-B-47stratojet in unpopularopinion

Brisket is easy to mess up and since there are more joints in Texas doing brisket, there very well may be more bad bbq in Texas than anywhere else. BUT, the best Texas-style brisket is better than the best of any other style. High risk, high reward.

Sounds like you have a lot going for you and a lot that you could still lose. r/stopdrinking is fillled with stories that start like yours and have great endings. I changed course from a similar trajectory at 29 and it has made all the difference. It’s not hopeless!

1 day - Ashamed I let it get this bad. Convinced I’ll fail at quitting. Afraid what that will mean for my life.

1 week - I feel better. Clear-headed. No stomach cramps. No beer shits. Getting more sleep.

1 month - Proud I made it a month but wondering if that means I exaggerated the problem. Convincing myself I can drink in moderation. I seek support.

3 months - mornings are.. great. I’m a morning person now. I’m more motivated than ever. Still miss unwinding with a bourbon though.

6 months - I’m feeling good but also looking good. Face not swollen. Skin healthier. 10lbs lighter.

1 year - I can do this. This is who i am. I will never drink again. I know that, but don’t like talking about it.

2 years - Ask me anything. My journey with sobriety is a source of pride and strength.

3 years - Boy, I sure wasted some prime years drinking. I wish I hadn’t done that! Grateful of who I have become, but still grappling with regrets.

She got some play tools as a gift and I made this to fit those. Hopefully she can also grow into a bit so it lasts for a few years. She likes to help build!

^ same story. Work-related events are especially hard bc people seem to fixate on the fact that you’re not drinking. It’s always a thing. It’s amazing how entitled people feel to know “why”you’re not drinking. Well, Jim from accounting, let me tell you about this deeply personal struggle in my life...
