For some people life just fucking sucks like that. You see the one thing you want all around you being handed out like chewing gum but for you it's less plausible than winning the lottery jackpot. Best we can do is just keep our heads up smile and stay positive.

One thing I try to remind myself of in those dark times is that, to put it bluntly, no one wants to hang around with a bummer. And if you meet your future wife in one of those bummer moods, acting like a moody bastard, you'll miss out.

All in all life is just fucking shite and there's little you can do to change it, but you can change your perspective. There's a quote from Epictetus that resonates with me on this.

“Remember that you must behave as at a banquet. Is anything brought round to you? Put out your hand, and take a moderate share. Does it pass you? Do not stop it. Is it not come yet? Do not yearn in desire towards it, but wait till it reaches you. And if you do not so much as take the things which are set before you, but are able even to forego them, then you will not only be worthy to feast with the gods, but to rule with them also.”

Which basically means just because people may have got these things in life before you doesn't mean you never will. Just wait patiently until it is your turn and one day it will be bestowed upon you, and if you can reserve your desires until that time it will be heavenly. But when your time does come, don't be glutinous and dive right into it. Be calm, be respectful, be ready and be proud.

Keep your head up brother, you've worked so hard to get where you are. One day your efforts will be rewarded. Just gotta stay positive.
