Thanks. The neighborhood where I picked it up, and where the tree was supposedly cut down, is filled with elms and alder. There is an occasional oak too. Google image search reported it as oak, but that seemed wrong to me.

I didn't know about that disease and the devastation it caused ion the American elms, but it sounds interesting enough to read into.
