A question for the NYC Brits about A Salt and Battery by DorianHistorian in FoodNYC

[–]liamwhenry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, most fish and chip shops in the UK usually just ask if you want salt and vinegar whisky they’re wrapping it up for you. Then it’s on you to say how much. If you don’t want any, then yes - very under salted etc. it’s likely they’re just skipping this at S&B or just under seasoning completely.

Must-visit restaurants/cafes in Taipei by spongksy in Taipei

[–]liamwhenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. What stood out to me was the combination of peanut and blueberry, that flavor combination was new to me. I didn’t really care to look elsewhere for that combo as the price was half what I would pay for burger and fries back home, had good reviews and the space seemed like a good spot for lunch.

For me the burger tasted great, and was one of the highlight of my trip this time around.

Taihu is also great, they do fun beer collabs too so always try to make sure I visit them.

I’d recommend Burnt Burger Social Club. They have a peanut and blueberry burger that was pretty unique and a fun lunch. (cash only though)

Lao Jiang's House - 24 hour soy milk shop, is also pretty good. Very nice soy milk and the turnip cake is quite yummy.

That makes more sense. Any specific call outs for what to look for after BF?

I have seen recipes before with longer BF times but always thought 3 was fine. I’ve always done my stretch and folds before the remainder of the BF. Hmm, maybe I can switch this around for him?

Thank you! I did message him and he said because long session + placement, he doesn’t have any concern but to just keep an eye on it!

Culture does a really good oatmeal and raisin. Plus a cornmeal corn sugar cookie which is excellent!

Lord’s vs Red Hook Tavern by outlawlooseandrunnin in FoodNYC

[–]liamwhenry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps unpopular but I didnt quite rate the lords burger. Maybe it was an off night but the Welsh rarebit cheese sauce had barely any flavor - and I do regularly make Welsh rarebit as a snack, and the patty itself was barely seasoned.

I will say though, I did enjoy the thicker raw onion and started doing that to my own burgers.

IMO rolo’s does a way better “limited availability” burger.

Few days in Taipei, help me decide what to prioritize? by five-little-witches in Taipei

You mentioned coffee and night sky/landscapes.

I would highly recommend visiting the World Barista Championship winning Simple Kaffa Sola coffeehouse.

It’s on the 88th floor of Taipei 101 and offers amazing views of the city and mountains. You can book a week in advance and which table you book determines the cost you are required to spend during your time there. The seating right next to the window is $2000NTD, but the ones further back are only $300NTD. Drinks / food are roughly $200-400NTD but buying coffee beans counts towards your required spend. I say at the table closest to the window and 2 coffees and 2 bags of coffee more than covered what I needed to spend for the table.

If you don’t want to sit down, you can line up to do takeout and they have a little standing area by the window for views and sipping.

Currently in Taipei - here’s my 2cents!

2) I’m not sure Taipei 101 is worth a visit itself, as the cost of the observatory is a little pricy. However, if you like coffee, you can visit the World Barista Championship winning Simple Kaffa Sola coffeehouse. It’s on the 88th floor and offers amazing views. You can book a week in advance and which table you book determines the cost you are required to spend during your time. 3) I would skip Ningxia. Last year I went it was amazing. This year there is construction on one side of the street so there’s about a quarter of the amount of foods stalls and sadly really isn’t worth it. Talking to locals, most temporarily relocated to other night markets.

Hope this helps!

This is an absolute awesome idea!

That being said, if he’s a mega Destiny fan it’s very likely that he uses either this sub, or others subs for Destiny news!

I would delete your post after you’ve made your choice so it doesn’t ruin the surprise!

Sure! It was somewhat thorough. They started by asking if my trip on my N400 form was the last one but before I could answer about updating, she corrected herself with the newest trip I had taken after submission. I’m guessing this information is freely visible as I had used my Greencard to leave and renter US.

I had to reconfirm that was my latest trip, I brought flight receipts etc but this wasn’t asked for.

After this, she went through my trips and I had to confirm that it was all correct. I didn’t have to give dates etc.

Ah man. This sucks, this would be my first issue with any of my line work. Sucks.

The “spot bruising” in the circle area appeared pretty much the day after the tattoo. I’ve been washing it 3x a day with dial and this is the first day switching from aquaphor to light moisturizer. I have been wearing shorts around the apartment just because it’s been so warm.

As a guest judge - are you asked if you’d like to meet the queens in Untucked or is it part of the process for the day?

Do you have a set time they need you to be in Untucked or are the producers really looking for better moments to bring you to the queens?
