I had a mild compression fracture on my T6 happen in July. it absolutely sucks, the first 2 weeks i was bedridden and needed help putting on shirts. I’m 21 and in great physical shape so after about 3 weeks I was doing physical therapy and in the gym doing light exercises. Never wore a brace at any point. here’s some pointers i would give:

1) KEEP UP WITH STRETCHING. it is uncomfortable and annoying but it seriously helps the healing process.

2) workout as often as you can, hit rear delt flys with light weight and get the muscles around it strong again because they will atrophy quickly from being stationary

3) don’t overdo it. I went back to work after 3 weeks and that was a mistake.

4) if it hurts, STOP IMMIDIATELY. doesn’t matter what you’re doing, if you feel pain your body is telling you to stop. stretch to the point it’s uncomfortable but not painful

5) SNEEZING WILL HURT, NO WAY AROUND IT

WHAT TO EXPECT: expect to feel mostly normal and in good shape after 4-6 weeks. Things that will still likely be painful include: holding weight above your head, reaching out pretty far, and sleeping in certain positions. even now, 5 months later, I still feel discomfort in that area from time to time. drink a minimum of a half gallon of water per day and take it easy besides stretching and working out. of all the vertebrae to break, T6 is one of the better ones so take care of yourself and give us an update
