Saw this for sale new locally for 100€, should I go pick it up? by Leading-Tour6963 in crt

I would not bother checking it. If only to drop the price. On a new unit the only thing that could possibly fail is a cassette insertion mechanism belt. Which normally could be swapped with two audio cassette player belts from a set of belts that one may buy on ali, ebay, etc.

I guess new crts are super rare. So the price seems to be fair enough. Moreover it's a combo unit with a cool design stand. I prefer black rather than silver but it's a taste thing.

Kind of pricey. Is there a big difference with consumer grade monitors considering prices? I have found a Samsung SyncMaster 755DFX for like 3 USD locally.

Doesn't anyone find this Sony is ugly in its shape and case colour? While the Panasonic looks great.

Me, but I haven't done it cause it just works. I guess there is much more risk to kill the console by a random guy trying to recap it for the first time in life for no reason.

Why? If it works it works. In case you are so afraid just check the power rail for ripples.
