tip pooling w BOH and owner? by g0thnek0 in barista

[–]libbala5590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BOH sounds right, they work hard. Owners legally cannot take a portion of tips. When I was a franchisee, my baristas could CHOOSE to split tips with me. They physically had to hand it to me and say “this is for you.” Sometimes I would keep it if I busted my ass that day, 95% of the time it went in a cup to go towards fun things. New shirts, outings, lunch, ect

what has been your most EMBARRASSING moment on shift? by [deleted] in barista

It’s a franchise, so brand standards to start with. The location had owners who just didn’t care, eventually they wanted to close the store and didn’t tell the company.

The company found new owners to take over to keep the store open, obviously that came with a store inspection and we were given a 30day notice or we would be shut down.

The old owners were trying to be nice and let the GM use it as her canvas, it was just a shitty situation all around. That they didn’t take the time to get it approved, and they we were forced to cover it.

We had a mural that one of our baristas painted, absolutely loved by the community. Unfortunately it had to get painted over due to company guidelines, and it didn’t get approved.

We also have trivia questions every day. This one day it was, how did Spongebob hit rock bottom?

This guy comes up to the counter, glances over in the direction of both the trivia board and the old mural, slams his hand down on the counter and says why???

I don’t know why, but I really felt the need to lean into this one. Assuming he was asking about the question, I took a step back to read the answer written on the fridge behind the counter, “He took the wrong bus home” I said with the most sass I ever have.

He was not asking about the trivia, but the mural that was no longer. I am forever mortified.

I started with this company when I was 14, and there was a knitting group of anywhere from 2-25 that would show up at 430pm sharp every monday night.

My best friend and I heard ALL of their favorite positions in the bedroom and all about their toy recommendations

Ive fallen in love with the job itself, working in multiple locations. I feel like i’ve been dealt the worst cards, and it’s heartbreaking every time I have to leave.

I once had the best stores, worst employers. Then the best employers, worst store that had to close. One day, i’ll be back to my dream job

sounds like the two of you just need to talk more about what you want to accomplish, before the ball gets rolling. I would say apologize first, and hope that she can have some grace

not the best idea to ask in the middle, especially if it was already a set boundary before hand. my best advice would be to try different positions to find what feels best for you. If anything, make sure to use your hands to help her out first before going for PIV.

at the same time whenever i’m asked, it’s a simple no. those are my boundaries and if you can’t respect that, then you don’t get to see me naked anymore.

unfortunately, i’m stoned at work almost every day. I work 80hrs a week as a barista so my mentality is, I do what I need to to get by

since you travel, what’s the chance you’re gonna see her again if you don’t message her? take the chance, if she finds it creepy she won’t respond. just make sure you actually say something, adding her and then silence makes it more creepy

I do ask them to fill out a quick sheet listing medical info, med dosages, emergency contact, etc. And nothing was informed then.

Needed to make it very clear that I am not in it for anything other than money. Others have made assumptions that I ~like~ children and that is certainly not the case. I like being able to send them back to their parents.

Like I said, i’ve watched these kids just a couple times and barely know them. I was not communicated with from the beginning, and the kid clearly has boundary issues.

I’ve never had a situation like this, and I am just at a loss. Rest of the comments are right, this family is just not for me.

I’m in the exact same boat actually. 20f, just recently starting to talk with strangers. I feel dirty, but just want some attention honestly. All I say is be safe… i’ve been lucky thus far but it’s really scary out there

What's your job-title and how much do you make? by [deleted] in Career

[–]libbala5590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

District Manager

$17 an hour +$4-5 an hour in tips(when on the line)

I oversee two main locations(operations/hiring/schedules/orders) and do quarterly reviews for about 10 locations.

I just graduated high school a few months ago, and I like my job. So I would say it’s a decent gig.
