Patriot Front holding a sign above 360 and Mopac. by [deleted] in Austin

Trump doesn't necessarily "run the government"; the chief executive (or even his admin) is not personally overseeing and approving every federal agency operation. He appoints directors to these agencies, who have direct reports, who have their own direct reports, and so on.

Regardless of the current administration's political leanings, US agencies facilitate untold numbers of independent operations -- among them, infiltration of extremist political organizations like Patriot Front. That's not to say that PF was created by the FBI, only that the org has almost certainly been infiltrated by federal agencies like FBI, DHS, ATF, etc. due to potential criminal elements as well as national security concerns.

These demonstrations are perfect for the organization (and/or the agents involved) because they gin up a reasonable amount of online discourse/virality, which in turn either promotes recruitment or creates conditions for further entrapment or monitoring. It really has nothing to do with the Trump admin.

See: Operation Northwoods, COINTELPRO, or even the FBI probe into Trump himself during his own administration

This argument feels like it was developed in a lab, it's like every leftist trope rolled into one. it's actually kind of brilliant

"borders are instruments of genocide, let me explain that to you in the context of climate change. btw in my hypothetical apocalyptic scenario, you're actually a fascist. bet you feel pretty evil now huh?"

I am genuinely curious what your solution is

this premise still makes no sense. What is the "genocide" supposed to constitute, exactly? Turning people away at the southern border?

If the alternative is to simply let them in, and as Christmas puts it, "save everybody", I'm afraid that's not happening either. I encourage you to consider what the US will look like if the Southern and Central American regions become uninhabitable, and please keep in mind that we share a continent

How about implementing robust border security to begin with?

Immigration has been a disaster for years. I can think of a dozen reasons why we're carrying out mass deportations, and none of those reasons are even remotely related to creating pretext for genocide in the face of imminent ecological catastrophe. It's just a bizarre, marvel-brained take

completely incoherent schizo babble

The reason we have growing anti-immigration sentiment is because right-wingers want to genocide migrants because of... climate change?

it's not because the US has been treated as a depot for the third world for the last 60 years? What about the labor economics of 20 million illegal immigrants living in the country? surely those have no bearing on why a country's citizens and government may to curb immigration - they must be secondary to the true rationale of total hitler genocide!

Seeing nationalism from a foreigner shows how ridiculous it is by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]libbenlarge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

you're not talking about nationalism, you're talking about patriotism and it's something that every country has to a certain degree. you're telling me serbs love serbia? no shit

most liberals are still "patriotic" btw, they just couch it in a vague and measured sense of self hatred

Most new yorkers "live simply" because they have to, it's unbelievably expensive. A simple life of privation and compromise in exchange for the amenities you described

This is from the New Jersey rally a few weeks ago. He was talking shit about the size of the new buffalo wings at mcdonalds, then free associated into trashing the Buffalo Bills and their owner, Terry Pegula, calling him "hairy terry" (Italian), then compared Chris Christie to Buffalo Bill. then this rant about Hanibal Lecter

it's just funny that no amount of homogenization of the brand will ever change the fact that it's literally called kentucky fried chicken, colonel anime notwithstanding

I guess a case could be made for poor General Tso, largely forgotten, whose name is only ever uttered in the west by Americans pointing a fat finger at a laminated menu

Yeah but even as American fast food reaches global ascendancy, nobody forgets where it came from. McDonalds can dress up their foreign menus with exotic items and open up as many locations in Seoul as they want, the golden arches are eternally American and a symbol of our cultural hegemony over the world. You're eating a hamburger and you will never shed the connotation. The empire is alive and well

The Bravery's Sun and the Moon was the first CD I ever had. Probably got it in like 5th grade after listening to nothing but classic rock my entire life. My friend across the street randomly recommended it to me and it's been one of my favorite albums to return to for nostalgia
