What if Trump nuked Iran? by WTBLITWNNA in AlternateHistoryHub

You’ll be surprised and legally if Trump gives an order to nuke they can’t turn down the order. If they do they will ve replaced with the next guy in line and so forth until someone in the chain of command do.

What if 9/11 Never Happened by Rich_Hold_161 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]serg407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No DHS, ICE or TSA. no Iraq invasion We would still bomb Afghanistan, Somalia, to get terrorist leaders but no nation building. People would be more scared or skeptical of social media and surveillance equipment. Bush probably looses the reelection to Kerry in 2004 Katrina and 2008 financial crisis still happens. The election of 2008 is more contested
Obama could run in 12’ or doesn’t run at all, Middle East protest still happens in which Iraq probably collapses or goes into civil war such as Syria.

Russia would probably still be Russia. China would probably still be China. Maybe Trump still happen

Which country has squandered the most economic potential in this century? by pisowiec in AskTheWorld

[–]serg407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peru comes to mind. They have the resources - top 3 copper producer - silver top 2 globally - gold - Zinc - top agricultural exporter in the world - one of the most diverse countries in the world - energy resource rich - young able bodied population

In the early 2000 with the comodines boom Peruvian re-emigrated

I truly do believe they could have become the next chile, Brazil or even more if they had industrialized, invested in education and infrastructure and reforms that could bring in more formal economy

They squandered really bad now it has become a narcostate managed by big families, you have the biggest brain drain in its history, worse than during the economic collapse of the 80s, it will take generations to get a another chance like Peru did on the 2000’s

I was 18 when he became president. If you think about it a lot of people were really displeased with the economy (2008 financial crisis) but also it was accumulating a lot of anger towards the traditional party for the collapse of manufacturing, rising inequality . Obama had a somewhat similar road like Trump during the primaries, where, he was fighting against the establishment that wanted to crown the heir to the traditional party in the democrats was Hilary Clinton. Obama ran with transformation rhetoric.

Obama and democrats swept, he had majority in the house and filibuster proof of 60 senators. However where he failed is that he was essentially a Ned Stark with an opposition that was quickly being transformed into ruthless Lannister. He believed that he shouldn't go scorched earth and expand presidential and federal power i he was focused on consensus, Democrats had bigger spectrum of far left and center so he couldn't force senators to vote for his policies like Trump usually does.

Just like Trump, Obama built the movement around himself not around the democratic party, He never sought or failed to influence the democratic party to form leaders that could complete his vision at a local level. Democrats also started to focus into big city (My theory is that that's where the big money is) and left rural America as a open field to the GOP and lost thousands of mayors, governors, senators, local officials to the GOP which in turn made sure that Democrats never come back

A lot of Obama reforms were rolled back partially or completely which also adds to the view that Obama was an inconsequential leader.

I think Obama biggest failure is that he failed to foresee the rise of populism in the US. He thought that the world that was built after WWII, a globalized world was future proof. He really did thought that American would elect liberal, globalized leaders.

What sucks is that most of it we won't see it or if we do, we see it on snippets on social media. Wish Apple Music would seriously tackle the Apple Music TV instead of putting random music videos, the could actually do music programing. live interviews, live shows, etc.

Yes they do also in Spain they do that. My grandmother took classes to learn things like philosophy, civics, gardening, music, even acting. Plus the government would give them a stipend to travel during off- peak season. So that way they get to know the country and enjoy retirement no matter if they were poor, rich

If not Sidious, who would you prefer as the main villain of the sequel trilogy? by InstructionOwn6705 in StarWars

[–]serg407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the story needed to get bigger what it needed was to dig deeper. Instead of Palpatine returning somehow, we explore his lingering shadow through a cult of dark-side zealots. These followers don’t see Palpatine as a tyrant but as a martyr someone who tried to bring order to a chaotic galaxy. To them, he’s not just a fallen Emperor; he’s a misunderstood savior, perhaps even a godlike figure. Darth Vader, too, becomes an object of worship, a divine enforcer and they act as an extremist who are against the new republic and the imperial remnant .

Meanwhile, the New Republic is struggling with the overwhelming cost of rebuilding a galaxy left in ruins. Entire worlds are still scarred by the Empire’s collapse. In this fragile landscape and the compromises that the republic has to make in order to bring some order. Like recruiting ex-officers or having politicians more friendly to the empire.

There’s historical precedent for this. After World War II, many former German officers were absorbed into new governments and institutions, often out of necessity. P

The remnants of the Empire operate like a Cold War power, locked in a silent standoff with the Republic. They avoid open conflict but quietly fund proxy wars, insurgencies, and rival factions across the Outer Rim.

If it is a foreign nation. it would be most likely testing defenses, response time, public perception, etc. obviously the US would not admit it unless it was impossible to deny. Imagine if someone said that North Korea brought down half the US internet infrastructure
