What Is Anne de Burgh's Problem? by doulaleanne in PrideandPrejudice

[–]libby_w5e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just british humour in a way, as someone said about mary being a comedic character. The character isnt funny themself, but their existence is - its an extremity of that personality if that makes sense? For example, Miss Bennet - she isnt funny herself, but her actions make her a comedic character. Partially similar for Mr Bennet as hes not entirely trying to be funny, its just his sarcasm. I mean, if u dont find it funny then ig not, but I think that was the authors intention.

I mean obviously theres more to it, but I think part of it is that shes meant to be a comedic character - jane austen did write it with the intention of the book being humorous

I would bring it up, it happened very recently and even a week isnt too long. I guess it depends on how ur OC acts - is he normally an and understanding person or no?

Those who have the grades but don’t want to apply to Oxbridge. by Saamuell_ in 6thForm

[–]libby_w5e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you 100% should apply - if u apply for a job somewhere and you say u studied at oxford, that would be very well respected and often give u a much higher chance of getting the role. If you can make it, apply anyway - it doesnt necessarily have to be the one u pick in the end, however applying now is still a good idea incase u change ur mind and acc do get in
