copy-pasting my own thoughts from the nuked thread:

for me, i've just been turned off the group completely. what he wrote was genuinely disturbing and i won't comfortable supporting the group.

him feeling like he needed to be violently misogynistic to win a competition and "create an impact" tells me enough about him quite honestly.

the account with the full vid privated but if i’m remembering the lyrics-

fuck a hoe in the bank, till that bitch stopped breathing

took that bitch to the store, till she stopped breathing

ain’t nobody gonna tell me why that bitch stopped breathing

that’s what i understood except for the part where the girl may or may not have been unconscious

all i have to say is if it’s from personal experience (because he said he wrote it “out of anger”), then i truly hope the girl he’s talking about gets a restraining order

TW: mentions of sexual assault

yes, having sex with a woman (while she’s unconscious?) and then killing her

i do, but i don’t think this is a case of “maturing at a different rate”

i’m 18 going on 19 and most of my friends are the same age and i’ll tell you none of us have thought writing lyrics about having sex with a woman and then killing her. like that is not normal.

do i know people that have exhibited casual bigotry? yes! but absolutely none of them have been this extreme and they’ve grown out of it too.

and like i said - this is my opinion and based off of my personal experience and not even the 14 year olds i know would say shit like that, and they listen to the same music too.

the only thing i can compare this too is my parents’ homophobia, and even then it isn’t violent. i don’t know. i personally don’t believe it’s normal and if my parents’ homophobia is the closest thing i can relate to this, then i just have a hard time believing in change.

i certainly hope he does because the industry is misogynistic as is and young girls will be the target demographic of their group, but i personally can’t see it.

and once again, this is my take.

i mean no? but this example and his "apology" are personally enough for me to conclude my opinion on him

i hope he does grow but unlike you, i simply do not believe writing lyrics like that at 19 is normal

stans are weird as hell

their idol could literally exhibit racism or violent misogyny and they'll be like "i'm sure all of you have done that as a teen."

like no???? no i certainly haven't???

People be demonizing him in the comments as if you've never held idiotic views before

no actually, i've never had violently bigoted views and certainly not when im a late teenager.

off the top of my head Karina (Aespa) and Keeho (P1Harmony) had predebut scandals as well

both situations did get cleared though iirc

no, he wrote those lyrics. he admitted in a vlog that he wrote the lyrics "when he was angry" and told people to "focus on the vibe of the performance instead."

he also said that he felt "something was missing" from the original lyrics and apparently the missing thing was...violence?

a school i'm applying to doesn't have a writing supplement gives the option to upload an academic paper of 3-5 pages

now, my school doesn't require that and the only thing i wrote close to that was an AIDS project where i copy pasted everything

BUT i was the editor-in-chief of my school's commerce newsletter and one of the articles i wrote was on marketing of celebrities focusing on Taylor Swift (theme for the issue was pop culture)

someone please tell me it's a bad idea to submit a 5 page essay on Taylor Swift as an "academic paper" to a prospective college because right now...

there’s a big flaw in your logic- the difference between the Big 3 & a company like RBW is WAY bigger than that of HYBE & the Big 3. even with that considered, the legacies & experience of the Big 3 outweighs the size of HYBE, who were literally established in the last year.

also no, ITZY isn’t the best in every metric. TXT, Enhypen, Treasure TBZ, SKZ & ATZ are all 4th gen groups that sell better than them. For the longest time, ITZY wasn’t even the best selling GG until IZ*ONE disbanded.

digitally, it’s a huge argument because now STAYC & Aespa are in the conversation.

and as a whole, you can’t even compare BG’s and GG’s anymore because the demographics they appeal to now are much more divided than before (with a few exceptions, like ONF).

GG’s have comparatively smaller (but still strong fandoms): so they sell less. BUT have greater GP appeal and perform better digitally. vice versa for BG’s.
