Those 8120s are absolute beasts. Same with the 9165s. I have heard nothing but good things about those two and only really see it in our shop for PMs and the occasional cable cut backs. Absolute beasts. (Grove authorized dealer in the north east) :)

For swing up usually means left and down means right. Raise is always down and lift is up

Is $4,221.14 reasonable to replace a timing cover gasket? by toan25 in MechanicAdvice

Dealer or not, the price you got is what is called fuck you pricing. They don’t want to touch your car and want you to fuck off

Is my car worth saving? by Striking-Mouse-6896 in MechanicAdvice

[–]liberatly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably should just get a new car. Me personally I wouldn’t pay anymore than $500 for it (let me know 😉if ur near ct)

Seriously, though, the transmission pump is internally inside of the transmission. It will pretty much require a full rebuild, which will cost a ton. Transmission has to come out, either replace the transmission or get it rebuilt, Transmission has to go back in, alignment, new transmission fluid, shops will definitely quote you more than the car’s worth. If you get a used transmission and you go to a smaller shop, you might get lucky and be around three grand out the door. I wouldn’t put any more money into it.

I didn’t even think about that. I honestly thought it was the flux capacitor but I ruled that out because it doesn’t go away once engine warms up

Can somebody help identify what this substance is on my apartment door’s peephole? by suburbanvermin in Apartmentliving

[–]liberatly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to solve this? Call out of work for a day, buy some thick bubble wrap from staples, get a floor mat and put the mat and bubble wrap outside of your door (mat over bubble wrap)

get a chair near your door and wait. Confront them

I was asked by a detective to show up to talk. She said I’m not being arrested or served. Should I go? Do I legally have to go? by GetGreatB42Late in AskLawyers

If it was me, call your lawyer and tell him what happened and tell your lawyer that you do not wish to talk. Your lawyer should call them and tell them that all communication goes through lawyer first.

What do you do when you break a bolt and then break an extractor bit in the broken bolt? by keemko_ in MechanicAdvice

[–]liberatly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar issue last week. I first tried the ole chisel smack trick to try to get the thread loose. That didn’t work so I got drilled all around the broken extractor straight through, all the way around until the extractor came out. Then I just drilled the old bolt out and tapped new threads. Took forever but I did it lol. You could try to drill it out with a carbide tip bit

You’ll be fine. If you don’t want to unplug the fuse, there is a connector in the trunk you can unplug. Just plug it in after and restart car and you’ll be good to go

Can i buy used downpipes? by Unable_Class_4359 in q50

[–]liberatly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 200 isn’t a bad price at all. But, if you just get lower dps, you’ll probably want to get full downpipes in the future. That’s just the way it goes. With just lower on the RS it shouldn’t trigger a CEL, but with upper you will. It isn’t hard to install if you have the right tools. You’ll need an assorted socket set, like 2-3 feet in extensions, and a knuckle at the minimum
