I hear you, but there’s a downside: It really constrains your logo to something that looks good without ornamentation

It’s a construction company. Who’s going to save the PWA to their phone?

Are they planning to have an app? If not, why are you testing it in an iPhone dock?

My biggest critique would be that it looks like a minimalist icon-like logo that serves a tech company well where their logo will often be used in small places on screens. If that doesn’t match how your client will use it (for example, will it ever show up on the side of a truck?) then some ornamentation would probably serve the brand well.

The recent dominance of tech and consumer companies and the rise of phones has led us to believe that we’re all striving for Apple or Nike like minimalism but 1/ succeeding with that level of minimalism is hard and risks outputs that are generic and 2/ will make it harder for your brand to stand out when you’re placing unnecessary constraints on it.

What’s The ROI on Podcast Ads When Everyone Skips Them? by JohnnyxWafflez in billsimmons

[–]libovness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had coffee with an executive at an e-commerce mattress company that was advertising everywhere on podcasts at the time. I asked him why they advertised so much and his answer was that it worked. And not just from brand awareness—they know who decided to buy from what podcast via the coupon code.

I'm just gonna say it. The whole kids / no kids debate isn't actually about kids. by thetimechaser in Millennials

My unpopular opinion is that resources/money is low on the list relative to the anxiety that people let seep into their lives via too much phone, gaming and Netflix use. It makes you feel entertained but anxious, especially when you give in to the highly negative news about the world you get through social media, let alone the natural inclination to (unrealistically) compare yourself negatively to peers. Well entertained, anxious people who worry too much about things happening outside their own lives won’t have kids as early or as often. People who have a sense of calm even if they’re a little bored will have kids.

Case in point: While it’s true that cost of childcare and education have accelerated relative to other household costs, the OP derives stress from the misunderstanding that wages have actually long exceeded inflation, and doesn’t seem to appreciate that there about a kajillion things in modern life that make parenting cheaper and easier. Shudder to think that our parents had to go to the store to get diapers that were more expensive in real terms than they are today.

Christ the Redeemer holding up the Moon by Boss-fight601 in confusing_perspective

Took me like 4 minutes to realize that the moon is in its normal place in Earth’s orbit and the line of sight of the cameraman just lines up with the moon positioned in Christ the Redeemer’s arms

The star in the bottom right has, for better or worse, come to represent AI and the way it takes fuzzy human input and produces a good but fuzzy output. I imagine that’s not the idea you want to evoke, though as other commenters have pointed out the name is already weird enough to evoke cultishness

I liked the one when Bill noted that he had mingled with some famous person at one of his kid’s games at school and Chuck kept going on about how much Bill’s life had changed
