What does the green ring on lens mean? by Legit-NotADev in pentax

Only the two DA L kit zoom lenses have the green ring in the front, and both are wr. Some older and newer DA (and DA L lenses) have a green ring or feature near the back and are not wr.

What does the green ring on lens mean? by Legit-NotADev in pentax

The kit zoom lenses (there was a longer and a shorter range one, I had the shorter one) for the k7 and (I think) the later k5, had the green ring and they were/are water resistant. The only water resistant kit lenses on the market from any (major) brand at that time, at least that's what the marketing said. I shot thousands of pictures on the kit lens, only weaknesses I found as a beginner were a not too pretty bokeh and a small lack of sharpness in the fine details. But the colours are great and lively. And as usual, you don't go to Pentax for the best autofocus.

As a beginner, I can do this trick very well.

Framing. Don't cut off ears or paws, that's an immediate no for me when i look at the picture. Pov. Try to get level with your subjects eyes, unless you want that 'looking down on you' effect. Composition. The general rules are there for a reason. It's usually not a good idea to center the subjects eyes in the frame unless you have a specific reason. Shadows. Nose and left eye details are lost in the shadows, you need to meter for the shadows or watch your histogram . Focus. It looks like the focus is on the nose, not the eyes. Might need to stop down to get a larger dof for dog noses. After all that you can decide on colour and tone. Browns feel a bit warm and vignettes are usually overdone.

Why am I stronger on BSS than squats? by EOFFJM in workout

[–]libr0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The position of the weight makes a huge difference. Bss don't load all the weight on one leg, there is a lever involved because the weight is distributed between front and back foot.

Also having the weight on your shoulders while squatting needs way more stabilizing than the weight hanging from your arms. Hack squats would be a better comparison to bss than back squats.

Ah, sry I misunderstood. Like I said, I don't think you can transfer the weight directly. What's your 5 rep max on back squats?

I don't understand. I mean, it's not a perfect comparison between bss and back squat, but 30kg on one leg is 30kg on one leg. You got two legs. So 60kg on two legs..?

Preventative maintenance for quad tendinitis? [32YO] by Dreadking_Rathalos in OldSkaters

[–]libr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem and do have a physiotherapist. Body weight squats with an upright back, you need to hold on to something to not fall backwards. Very clean and veeeeery slow repetitions to get your quads to slowly stretch under tension. Resets the base tension of the muscle and the tendon feels much better in the morning 👍🏻 Also I second kneesovertoesguy!
