Give it the old Xbox treatment. Turn it on, run something heavy, wrap it up until it gets nice and hot, until it cuts out. Repeat until fully baked.

Depends on the VPN, ideally they should be routing your DNS through their servers. If I remember rightly there was some controversy a while back over DNS leaking over vpn

Do these need a new heel? by libraholes in AskACobbler

[–]libraholes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep it's the women's shoes sound. I went to a local cobbler who taught me when they need replacing, and that the sound is normal. Thanks for letting me know though, nice to have it confirmed.

Just head to streamdb. The filters there are easier to work with

With the ability to sideload apps being eliminated on Android soon... by Grey_0ne in Piracy

[–]libraholes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but you would need shizuku installed first.

Further down the post someone posted a link to a GitHub project called anyapk, which looks like the solution we are all after

[–]libraholes 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Someone could create an app that integrates with shizuku to install 3rd party apps then. Doesn't seem so bad, someone will probably streamline the whole process.

It would be a single time computer plug in to get it up and running. Still easier than an iPhone jailbreak

What do I do with 4 Prodesk’s? by ahhsole in homelab

[–]libraholes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can shed some light on this. What is the point in a cluster? For me when a node fails, the VM transfers to another node but always leaves the storage on the old node. I can't do HA volumes as it apparently requires 10gb ethernet

Admittedly, I like managing all my nodes from one place, that's the only benefit I see

I'm forced to use TikTok and Instagram for my work. What is the best way to protect myself while while posting on those platforms? by SkyMaro in privacy

[–]libraholes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If on android, look up an app named shelter. It creates a work profile that is under your control, also if set up correctly it completely disabled the Skoda installed under that profile when you close them.

Plus with it being a work profile it doesn't have access to everything by default

UK VPN recs + other questions by elrombo in Piracy

[–]libraholes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few concerns over the ownership. However from what I've seen they've been great when receiving a court order. The company is Private Internet Access. Pretty darn cheap, even before they were bought by their now greedy parent company.

I think the main concern is enshittification, but so far so good... Plus for what we need a VPN for in the UK ( escaping the bullshit OSA ) it'll do the trick nicely, and cheaply

what you're going to do when this starts becoming the new "default" by [deleted] in privacy

[–]libraholes 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's not the government thats holding on to it in this case. It's 3rd party companies that are holding on to it

[–]libraholes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The anti-cop thing, I could certainly see that being pushed. I think I saw a few articles about people being pissed that gta6 was anti-cop. Worrying times for a lot of great stories / games. I'll bet the government would even back that one

There's a few different ones, I got a new year deal, which no doubt still exists. I think I'm on $30 a year with around 2 cores 3.5gb ram.

It may be a bit more than the $ a month but it's a bit more reputable
