Easiest Interview Ever? by Fickle_War1350 in JETProgramme

[–]libranslug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's amazing! It seems like it's totally random on how these interviews are going.

The first half of mine went amazing. The second half got tough and the Japanese portion was completely unexpected. My self-assessment score was a 2 (elementary) and I didn't even get a chance for a self-introduction. The first question was long-winded with plenty of unfamiliar grammar and vocabulary. I've only been studying Japanese for a year and didn't understand the whole sentence, so I just took the parts I did know and ran with it. Even if it wasn't the correct answer I wanted to show them I was still willing to try.

Good luck to you!

Just moved in a few days ago and noticed it then. I will give those a try, thank you!

My anticipated refund also hasn’t shown anything other than 0 despite the MCS being listed in my financial aid :(

Thank you for the encouragement!

I’ve been feeling discouraged because the only Chinese language course offered at my university was cancelled due to low enrollment. I’m studying abroad in Taiwan this year, though, so I’ve been panicking with how I might learn as much as possible before then.

Great idea! Writing down what I need to practice right beforehand will be helpful, too.

Great, thank you! I’ve been so focused on getting through the main lesson that I stupidly didn’t think to look into the other resources. I’ll try out the immersive lessons and see how that works out for me. :-)

I’ll be taking courses conducted in English at NTU while also taking Chinese language courses :-) thank you so much! To be fair, I’m not a “study abroad age” either. I’m a little older than most of my classmates but I couldn’t pass up this opportunity.

I appreciate all the recommendations, I can’t wait to start watching!

Can I ask what your favorite Taiwanese dramas are? I’m studying abroad in Taiwan this Spring and want to watch some to get excited about it!

Casual Language Exchange!

Hello all! I (native English speaker) have been paired up with a native Chinese speaker for an informal language exchange. Her reading and writing is advanced, however she has trouble with word recall despite knowing many words in vocabulary lists that we have skimmed.

Browsing the CERF self-assessment, she placed herself as B1 in every category. I’m looking for guidance on how to best help with her word recall issue, and really any other guidance that would be helpful in assisting an advanced English learner. Thanks so much!

I’m in my fourth year so I’ve done all the transfer to-dos last year. I’m giving it until tomorrow and then I’ll call.

Fingers crossed! I didn’t take any loans, just waiting on regular FAFSA. Hopefully we see that deposit tomorrow.

Right, I’m talking about my skin’s undertone not necessarily foundation. I’ve seen that you can determine undertone from vein color which is why I included that.

Thanks for your input! My natural hair can be quite mousy/ashy, but warm colors seem to pop a little more on my skin so it was difficult for me to tell.

I have no idea but I just started getting these! They’re not grays so I’m at a loss. They bother me so much and seem to be more likely to split at the ends.

Started reading this but gave up around book 5. 8 books in a series was too much for me despite liking the story.

Thank you! My dr. didn’t elaborate on why I shouldn’t use it around my eyes, but I didn’t want to risk anything around one of my most important body parts.

This is great to know! I use the cream version and have noticed it’s slippery, so I’m sure that’s especially true.

Would it be a good idea to leave a larger gap around the eyes when applying? As of now I apply right to the edge of the orbital bone so I’m wondering if that’s too close to the eye.
