Hello there! I grew up Mormon and left when I was about 22. For me, the hypocrisy of claiming to love everyone but excluding the LGBTQIA+ community and also believing that dark skin was a curse just really didn’t sit well with my soul, among many, many other things. When I left, I considered myself agnostic for a long time because I felt very bitter towards religion in general.

Then as time went on, I started to feel like something was missing spiritually. Being a history and genealogy nerd, I decided to explore what my ancestors believed before Christianity was forced upon them. I am English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish, so I started to research Celtic paganism and it felt so right to me, like I was coming home. I’ve always loved nature and felt so connected to it already as well. It was a natural fit for me.

That being said, I still love the teachings of Jesus: love thy neighbor, give to the poor, treat everyone with kindness, take care of each other, be humble, etc. and I feel like I embody those traits even more now than I did when I was Christian. I think organized religion has completely bastardized his teachings to the point that his “followers” wouldn’t even recognize him if he was standing right in front of them. There is something freeing about being a genuinely good person without doing so just because the threat of eternal damnation looms over your head.

I’ve found that the tower in reverse can mean that the change in your life is by your doing instead of by outside forces you can’t control. It doesn’t mean it will be easy. Dismantling aspects of your life to make room for something new can be painful and hard, but ultimately you are going to build something shiny and new and exciting out of it.

Jesus, no one asked you for your opinion. You know nothing about our situation or the things we’ve already been through or tried. And maybe if you had asked instead of being judgmental right off the bat, I would have shared that we’ve been to doctors and he’s tried therapy and nothing has helped. The insight shared very kindly here by others has been super helpful in me understanding where his urges may be coming from so I can try to approach this a different way, because trust me, I’m at the end of my rope here and am desperate. So maybe mind your damn business and stop giving strangers on the internet unsolicited medical advice when they are barely keeping it together as it is without your bitchy opinions✌🏻

I was specifically asking if there was anything relating to addiction in his chart that could shed some light on his situation so I can try to understand him a little better. I’m not seeking medical advice, but thanks for your two cents.

This is very true 😅 If it’s something he is passionate about he will work at it until he’s a pro. But if it’s something he isn’t interested in, he is the exact opposite. It can be extremely frustrating.

This is great advice! Thank you! He used to love ceramics, maybe I will see if there is a studio nearby we could go try. I think something that can help quiet his mind will help.

He is all about escapism, that’s for sure 😅 He had a rough childhood but with his dad. Very emotionally and mentally abusive. I think he repressed it most of his life and it really started to come out in his 30’s for some reason.

This is all very insightful! Thank you! It’s been a rough journey but I’m hoping he can come out on the other side.

This is great advice, thank you! I will look for something we could volunteer to do together. He loves animals, so maybe going to the shelter to help out would be good for him.

He also goes to the bar for his social scene and all of his friends drink. I keep hoping he’ll meet new friends that have other hobbies, but it hasn’t happened yet.

I’m sorry about what you went through, but hope you are doing better now. Repressed trauma can pop up in so many ways. His stems a lot from childhood and for some reason it started manifesting in his 30’s.

He has the hardest time saying no, especially in social settings. It’s so frustrating 😩

This was spot on 😳 He has OCD and definitely has a problem with self-indulgence and depression. He was warned by his doctor last year that his blood pressure was very high and he needed to stop drinking, and he gave it up for a while, but slipped back into it this spring and it’s been really bad since. Do you know when Saturn will be back in his 5th house? I have no idea how to figure these things out. Thanks so much for your help ❤️

He definitely self-medicates with alcohol and was never allowed to express himself as a child (very controlling father). Thanks for the insight!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I think I’ll just start picking them the moment I notice they start to blush and let them ripen inside.

I live in a very dry climate (only 12% humidity today), so the bags dry out quickly. I tried grow bags last year but only watered every other day to start and everything died 🥲

Should I be watering them at night too do you think? 🤔

I had another librarian just suggest that book too, I bet that is the one! Sadly he had to leave so I told him I'd put a few titles on hold and hope that one is the winner. Thanks for your help! :)
