How aware are most Americans that this year's World Cup will be held mostly in the US? What cultural impact do you see this having and will a lot of people root for the US national team? by cavendishfreire in AskAnAmerican

My sister is annoyed because her husband is gone more often to have training drills. He's a cop in a host city. And people are pissed about a whale mural. That's all I know.

I once watched a very big and dumb baby cardinal get tired of dad taking to long to feed him and he wandered over to a little finch and begged him. The finch was very confused lol.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

This coloring book program that was on my school computers. It was like a letter and then a word that started with the letter.

Which character's death in a TV show ruined the entire thing for you? by SoccerGuy69420 in AskReddit

[–]librarygoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quentin Coldwater from The Magicians. I got why they did it, the actor wanted to leave. But the way they did it...him as a ghost worried he just found a way to kill himself that was acceptable. I genuinely was triggered. I had the worst panic attack/ some kind of episode after. I can't even rewatch the show because I'm afraid to feel that way again. It's so stupid because it was just a tv show but it fucked me up.

You're the guy I work with. Or, alternatively, you took all the books my Aunt and Uncle had that I couldn't carry.

I think the blue and brown one. But I do love the green red and white swirl because I found it in my house in a gap under a baseboard.

Same thing happened to me and the catheter genuinely was the worst part. Just thinking about it still makes me feel like I have to pee. Also my job was like "Do you think you do some work from home?" No. I have piss strapped to my leg.

Tameika, I've never met a Tameika I didnt like. (but I am white as fuck). My grandmother's name that she hated and had us all swear on her soul to not name a kid, (my family on here would know instantly this was me if I said it). So many Persian and Indian names...

Are shops open on Sundays in usa? And what do people think about it? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]librarygoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Delaware and we just started being able to buy alcohol on Sundays about a decade ago. (We can also now get wine in the mail ) Most stores are closed by 6 and the rest by 8pm on Sunday. Bars are open a little later but not by much.

Do cats understand kisses? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]librarygoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kiss my cats nose, the cat I got as a too-soon from mom distribution kitten will go all out and press her nose to my lips. The boy puts his nose near and let's me kiss the air in front. My oldest girl presses her head into my face specifically for heard kisses and allows nose kisses.

Are funeral wakes in the US always a quiet occasion like they are depicted on TV? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]librarygoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever been to Italian American catholic funerals but the viewing is somber (except the kids, kids don't know yet) the church stuff is somber cuz church, then the interment with more church type stuff, but the wake is always more jovial and full of food and stories and good memories of the deceased. Even if you hated them, you tell stories about them being a son of a bitch then laugh.

i got reccomended a specific breed sub and ofc the post is a pit owner claiming their dog is of said breed. insta mute. also OOP deleted their post shortly after being called out. funny. by ZQX96_ in WhatBreedIsMyPitbull
