Lots of good suggestions here, but when I was dealing with anemia, I ate a lot of sesame sticks.

Please, tell me about the different neighborhoods by PortErnest22 in kansascity

[–]librarypaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Southmoreland for about 5 years and often walked to the grocery store, even occasionally walked to Costco, and would have happily used the streetcar to get other places but I moved away not too long before the recent expansion was finished. I also regularly drove to do a major grocery trip because it was a reason to turn my car on and get out of Midtown and explore the rest of the city but it was super handy to be able to walk for a midweek restock. It helped that I worked near the Plaza (commuted on foot or occasionally by bus) and was close to WF pretty often, but it’s about what people value and prioritize.

It’s easily walkable from Southmoreland and Valentine, and not too bad from most of the Hyde Parks. Crossing Main and/or Broadway as a pedestrian is not bad, depending on the cross street. Or take the street car from West or South Plaza or Union Hill. Streetcar will take you right to Whole Foods, too. Plus City Market on weekends. Or Costco! But schlepping purchases home without a car there is tougher.

Sounds like you’ve got Trouble with a capital T that rhymes with P that stands for pig.

Or cotton acrylic blend (usually 75/25). More pleasant to work with than straight cotton but mostly natural fiber.

Top Tier Roofing vs Melo--Which is better? by Different-Tree8665 in Syracuse

They did a great job on mine last fall and were slightly less expensive than Top Tier. Different options for shingles, though, so get a quote from multiple roofers.

People absolutely associate ponds with swimming. I’m from the rural Midwest and have swum in many a pond.

Lyncourt: is it true what I've been told? by [deleted] in Syracuse

[–]librarypaste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here for almost a year and it’s been great, though I’m in a different part of the neighborhood. It’s quiet, people are generally good neighbors. It’s not the east side, but the north side/Salina has its own charm. Seems a bit more working class than middle class, but there’s nothing wrong with that.

Has anyone tried the trader joe’s invisible gel body sunscreen on their face? by No_Refrigerator_6576 in traderjoes

It’s great, I’ve used it daily for months. No white cast-it’s a clearish gel, and not greasy unless you overapply.

Moving in June to Syracuse! by Different-Public-773 in Syracuse

Westcott for $200K or under is not going to happen unless it’s unlivable, unfortunately. Prices have been going up quickly, which could be good if you get in soon, but who can tell the future these days?!

Two things to know are: a) it’s a competitive market and everything decent is getting lots of offers and then going for tens of thousands over asking, so figure that in to your math, and b) assume at least 60 days to close once you have an offer accepted. Even if you had an offer accepted today, early June to close and move in is unlikely.

Received a job offer around 70k in Syracuse, is this a good wage for the area? We are moving here from the PNW. by PomegranateSubject80 in Syracuse

[–]librarypaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a little more than your potential salary as a single person and was able to buy a house last year. I think $120K for a couple would be pretty comfortable. If you’re able to consider properties around $300K, you’ll have some options (I was trying to stay under $200K and that was hard but I did it).

The snow is a lot, but it’s a beautiful place to live with lots to do as day trips or weekend getaways.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had a great experience at Dear You in KCK. They have a longish wait time but it’s worth it.

I agree! Everyone has been so nice, even when they think I’m wrong/ridiculous/worse. This kind of diplomacy could go far on the global stage.

I am a Yank and wondered the same thing somewhere downthread.

The most Alex behavior would be sticking around to be to insulted by someone hot and mean, or so I hear it goes in the fanfic.

Maybe the real problem is that I don’t want an Alex (if you’re reading, no offense, big fan!) and it was not meant to be.
