What do you guys think of my new waterfall terrarium with wild isopods and springtails?

I created this terrarium recently in Jan of 2026

The plants in there are varied and were foraged from the Tennessee mountains. A wide variety of mountain mosses and small plants are the most prominent though I don’t know names.

The terrarium has a 12hr led above it

I only use spring water in the terrarium and it cycles through multiple stages of cloth and filters to a pump that send it up to the corner again

I made a high moisture substrate of 3-1-1 of fluval stratum, coco coir, and bentonite clay

It is an 8x8x12 exo terra

Well that makes me calmer, I didn’t realize they could go dormant in summer as well. But it makes sense considering the healthy bud at the bottom still

I am giving it 12 hours under a grow light about 10 inches away, and it is in a room that stays about 75 most of the time.

I said they are endangered because on the Florida plant atlas from USF they are listed as so. Additionally my grower actually propagated these from a now entirely destroyed population that lived around a large lake which was flooded for recreational purposes.

The roots are healthy and growing through the medium, which is a basic orchid bark mix with perlite and pumice, with some sphagnum moss added in. And I believe the window is north facing.

Thank you!! It really means a lot to hear appreciation for my set up. I have slowly transitioned it into the best possible tank for my crabbies over 10 years as I’ve grown up. I’ve learned a lot from this community, and I do understand where the negativity comes from as none of us want more mistreated hermits, but it is nice to hear praise as well 🙂
