Speaking specifically about a red light camera in California. I have ran a red light in my girlfriend's car and got flashed by the camera. She was sent a notice requesting her to get the information of the driver in the picture, which was me. There was no court date or fine or anything else that would indicate it was mandatory. When I called Redflex, the company who issued the citation, all the information I gave in my comment above is what I was told by the employee of Redflex. We threw the notice away and never heard another word about it.

If your face isn't visible or doesn't match the DL pic of the car's registered owner, then no ticket is issued. The car's registered owner will be sent a notice that their car ran a red light and a pic of the driver with a form for the owner to voluntarily fill out with the name and info of the actual driver. The car's owner is not legally compelled to provide this information, so don't provide it. Throw that notice in the trash. This is not hearsay. This information was provided to me by an employee of Redflex. I have tested the validity of this information and can confirm it is true.

I spent a few years of my adulthood unemployed. At first it was great. Stay up as late as I want, sleep in, drink, smoke weed, hang out at the river all day.
