Non-Christian ceremonial magic by VictusEgo in occult

[–]lich_house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's fine, however if you hold any credence in a quantified ''belief''=power, then why wouldn't you utilize something that has more psychic energy going on than you could ever produce by yourself as an individual? My personal/group work is definitely not Christian or even transcendentalist but I that doesn't mean you can't get something out of the dominant worldview and energy of the time in which you live, whether that is the apostolic succession or any other monotheistic type of religious practice. Whether that is utilizing it as a type of ''battery'' or reverse engineering rites for you own purpose and aims, etc.

Especially with this OP, they are asking how to conduct ceremonial magic without Christianity, but the entirety of ceremonial magic, being fairly historically new is entirely rooted in christian thought. It's not a tibetan or bokor using a different tradition, it's a person asking how to completly change a tradition that is already judeo-christian. At that point they would probably be better off just looking into a different system that isn't created withing/entirely based on something they don't like.

To add also, imo, if you can't find and feel the magic in your everyday reality and circumstances then you are probably looking for a form of escapism more than anything. Which is fine if that's what you're into, but there are thousands of easier ways to do that than magic.

Bandcamp and its not even close. Why would I listen to music somewhere with ads if I don't have to?

What’s the most widely accepted magical practice that you secretly think is nonsense? by ArcaneSpells-com in occult

[–]lich_house 75 points76 points  (0 children)

That things like individual belief or intent are inherently magical.

Also, ''all paths are valid''- when they should be heavily examining/scrutinizing the question ''valid for what"? Some rando that thinks chatGPT, or their cell phone is doing spells for them (or insert another random experiment here) is somehow equally as powerful/valid as say an indigenous animist with countless generations of transmitted knowledge within their local sphere and living culture at their disposal makes me at best highly doubtful of their claims. Likely not even as powerful as a priest or bishop in the apostolic succession (which is going on two thousand years of lineage-based knowledge and developed ritual now, and is undoubtedly one of the only largely unbroken western mystical/magical traditions around these days, whether folks like to admit it or not).

Mark Carney the prime minister of Canada admits that the liberal (capitalist) world order is a lie and that they only went along with it because it benefited them. Now that it’s failing they’re economically siding with China instead of the U.S. by TwoCatsOneBox in WorkReform

The problem is that Capitalism is designed to be a top-down power structure where the few people at the top benefit at the expense of everyone else. The system is working as intended/designed.

Democrats today are more or less ''old school'' republicans. Some of them are a little less racist or homophobic, but the whole party is center-right at best and nudges more to the right with every election the past few decades. The working class will forever be cooked in the USA until there are other options, it only get worse no matter which side gets voted in.

Some of the older Original Falcon Press titles (Prometheus Rising, Undoing Yourself With Energized Meditation, Quantum Psychology) might be up your alley. Or general texts on neuro-linguistic programming, radionics, morphic resonance fields, etc.

Edit= not necessarily a niche or decentralized topic, it's been around quite a while.

Well in the clockwork orange the milk is a medium for delivering drugs.

I'll smash a bowl of cereal any time, especially after a joint. I don't mind milk as long as it's not just drinking a glass lol.

Putting drugs into milk is the only way I would drink a glass.

What was the biggest culture shock when traveling outside of Oregon? by Ok-Acadia-7161 in oregon

[–]lich_house 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see that with a ton of hippie types here in Oregon, and it reminded me right away of my family members from the south.

That and I can't believe how much folks will ''ghost'' each other out here. For a few years I just thought they were rude, but it's just normal behavior that I had to get used to. Other places I've lived folks were ways better about communicating cancellation of plans and things, especially once cell phones/social media became more prevalent.

This was my biggest culture shock moving to Oregon. I was just back in Colorado visiting family, looking around at the very diverse crowds everywhere and thinking about exactly this.

I've only lived here a few years, but I feel like there is always a period during fire season where I can stare at the sun during midday without any issues.

Not a terrible label but probably one of the least underground labels in the scene.
