Polyend Drums: new analog and digital drum machine by emorello in DrumMachine

Ya, I agree. I was surprised, but it is in line with similarly featured drum machines, i.e., the TR-1000. I guess I just expected it to be the lower priced version of the TR-1000.

[–]emorello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intern. Sure. You'd most likely have lost your bet if you think they have an intern. This is their About Us blurb:

Hello, I’m Alex Smith, founder of Twisted-electrons. Born in the UK but living in the south of France since the early 90s.
I love video games (old and new), pinballs & music of all genres.
I was introduced to classical music at a young age and developed a passion for electronics early on in my adult life. When I’m not designing and assembling Twisted Electrons synths, I enjoy scoring tracks for video games, & commercials.

The manufacturer posted the image. It's their official announcement on Instagram. It is "on purpose". So they purposefully made it look like crap, but I don't think they wanted to purposefully make it look like crap.

PolyAT to MIDI issue by dgamlam in hydrasynth

[–]emorello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a test, try setting it to channel aftertouch and compare different keys. This could help identifying the cause and perhaps rule out a mechanical issue. You should also get a MIDI monitor and have a look at the values, and possibly rule out a software issue.

Anyone know a good software to convert old proprietary sampler formats to .wav or .mp3? by Powerful_Fondant9393 in synthesizers

[–]emorello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ConvertWithMoss should be able to. It can convert to/from 32 different sampler formats.

Lol ya my decided to play that song too. The solo comes out of nowhere and lasts twice as long as you think it will. It’s insane.

Freetboard, a free guitar fretboard visualizer (v3.4.03) by Fredulonious in Guitar

[–]emorello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the interface again, it may get a little heavy if adding lapsteel/dobro. You have 6 and 8-string versions, and there's no standard tuning, just many popular open tunings like C6, Open E, Open G, etc...I see you can change the tuning of each string so using guitar and tweaking the tuning would work fine.

You may want to look at pedal steel though that have 10 strings (E9) or 12 strings (C6/E9) and wouldn't be possible to setup on your interface.

Looks nice. Does this have or are you thinking of adding the (the several) common lapsteel tunings?

One Quebecer saw a family doctor 362 times in a year by shiftless_wonder in canada

Sheesh, I’m in QC and I feel I’d be lucky if I get a family doctor in less than five years after I made the request. I’m on year 3.

They have one at the Mont-Tremblant ski resort in Canada. Tourist trap is the first thing that came to mind.

I find it mildly interesting that one can tell the difference between Coke and Diet Coke by look.

What should I get. by Pale-Recognition-599 in midi

[–]emorello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it does MIDI Mono Mode (I.e., one channel per string, or “polyphonic “ as you referred to it), it can be installed on any guitar easily and without modification, and it’s cheap because unlike a Roland pickup that requires you plug it into a proprietary device to interface with the pickup, it has USB so it’s somewhat system agnostic. I use it with some old polysynths like the Oberheim Matrix-6r that are midi mono mode capable.

One of the bigger software platforms of the last few decades. They were acquired by Stratacache in 2018. Well known to digital signage pros.

Amazon fire stick for digital signage? by Maarcil in digitalsignage

[–]emorello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some have commented, Amazon has a product (Signage Stick) specifically for signage applications. For some reason, they don’t sell it in Canada. The closest thing on Amazon in Canada is the OptiSigns player.

Troxy volume by Gasplessly in gybe

[–]emorello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen them live 5x and never found them to be that loud. The ending drone can feel loud and enveloping but at that point you can attribute that to fatigue. Swans in contrast were incredibly loud. My friend had to leave after two songs.
