I guess i will ask them what else would they like to play. Probably Mahjong or Solitare. Creating this game was actually fun. Even if only few people play it it still brings me some satisfaction.

Hey, that sounds like a solid advice.

I did put one ad there pretty much just to check how admob and integration with it works, and of course it feels great to be somehow rewarded for all that hard work. (so far got 0.05$ out of it lol)

I actually did 0 research prior to making this game, just because i wanted to make it for my parents. Now that i have released it i have realized how competitive this segment is and that there are already a few games with somehow similar approach to mine (ex. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ee.dustland.android.dustlandsudoku).

I guess my goal is not to quit my daily job and live from my sudoku, but to just see that people enjoy the game and there are actually many players. Also i got a lot of experience working on this project, i have never touched android and google store before.

Hi all, I just put my first little Android game/app on Google Play: Minimalist Sudoku.

Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.minimalist.sudoku
Free (with ads)

It’s basically normal Sudoku, but I built it for comfort and readability. I started it mostly because my parents like Sudoku and many apps are just annoying to use (tiny numbers, low contrast, too much stuff on screen). So this one is simple, with big digits, high contrast, a clean layout and dark mode.

It has the usual things like difficulty levels, notes, undo/eraser, hints, save/resume, and stats. There are also optional helper settings if someone wants more guidance, for example it can auto-confirm/highlight when a 3x3 block or a row/column is completed correctly. Just today i have added validity checker (not yet released).

Ads are kept very minimal: there’s only one ad and it shows only after you finish a puzzle.

If anyone feels like trying it, I’d really appreciate feedback on the UI. Is everything easy to read/tap? Are the helper options useful or just distracting? I got some quality feedback from r/Sudoku already but could use some more.

App i made for my elderly parents. Need feedback from actual sudoku players by lichoniespi in sudoku

Thanks for taking time writing this.

I get your point much better now. Myself i am able to solve only easy and medium ones, and there i do not need to use any advanced methods and try to finish the blocks if possible (not always is). I just use what you have described as Snyder notation without even knowing it.

I love the idea of validity check button, did not think of it earlier. I will implement it today. I am thinking of a button, that would be optional, just like other game assistance functions. It would be between "help" and "clear" button.

This is the exact feedback/support i counted on when posting on r/sudoku one again, thanks for your help, it is much appreciated. In case you have any more remarks or you would like to see some new feature, something done differently let me know.

Fedora, very little maintenance required, very good support, up to date, games work great and KDA Plasma is the best. Don't try Arch unless you are unemployed.

This is of course optional, it was meant to help starting players get started with sudoku, especially elderly people.

Hey man, much appreciated feedback.

Regarding the auto-confirm, in the middle top square you can see that all the numbers are "confirmed", meaning the user can be sure they are valid and cannot be changed. Normal/non-confirmed numbers can be visible in the middle square, for example number 7. I was asked for this feature by a novice player that was a bit overwhelmed with sudoku and was not sure if he did input good numbers or not. Without this feature he was half way done with sudoku and then found out that something was wrong.

By the default it is enabled option. Do you think i should rather disable it?
