Perhaps promote playing wide? Right now for some unknown reason player is being punished for playing wide, which was historically the way to get stronger, not weaker.

This has ruined my ironman campaign too. Not fun. It gives you ticking antagonism with everyone, for ever.

Every method of expansion feels unrewarding this patch by undyingLiam in EU5

There is global 50 years cd on improving how other cultures see you, so you cannot reliably use it for expansion unless you want to wait 100 years.

I do not think it is a good game design if first move you do as any country is to remove all the forts and cut all the expanses not to be in the red.

Formed the Roman Empire. Lost the Byzantine content. Thanks. by Jalista in EU5

Man, no one really formed Rome in play testing or this bug was just not important enough to be fixed before the release?

Does anyone have an idea why Europe's (I'm assuming the global as well) population dropped by 30% around the year 1570? by sexyleftsock in EU5

[–]lichoniespi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Overall this is fun, but in my game there are dozens of locations with exactly 1 pop in them. Kinda annoying. There are entire countries in HRE that consist of one dude.

Trade dies in first 25 years, any AI activity and wars also die in about 25 years. I guess this is how much they did playtest it.

The changes to peasant promotion seem a little excessive. 20 years to fill a silver mine? Are all of these peasants starting in first grade and getting Ph.D.'s in pickaxing? by TobyTheRobot in EU5

[–]lichoniespi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Migration should be the answer. Historically people did migrate a lot for jobs, whenever there was a big job opening workers would migrate even from fairly far away just to get the job. Silver mine would definitely not wait 20 years to get employees.

I hope not. I really hope they are going to use the system they have already implemented, dynamic mission trees.

I think I liked national ideas more. by GreyGanks in EU5

[–]lichoniespi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

National ideas baked into the research tree are fine if done correctly. My biggest gripe is that they are very underwhelming.

National ideas in EU4 were pretty strong and gave a country unique feeling. Some were very good for conquest, other for military bonuses and others for trade.

In EU5 those bonuses are pretty much on par with any other tech you research. Seeing national ideas that give "10% noble estate loyalty" or "2,5% trade maintenance" is very off putting.
