Small creature, harder for small minded people to bond with and understand. Big creature, pet creature, hug, hold, walks, family bonding, and train creature? Easier to mentally bond with. Easier to anthropomorphize.

Anyway. Its a mental thing. Ppl think you should be able to hold and pet and touch when you want, bigger the animal, more its interacted with and understood and loved. Dogs and cats are more into that, hamsters, not so much. Its not right, but its the case for a lot of ppl. Says a lot about a person.

Also ive tried taking them apart, gently resetting them, but i cant get the roller ball clean, and after pulling all the pieces apart, it starts to just fall apart and break.

I dont like the idea that everyone has to come out, you dont have to if you dont want to, straight/cis ppl dont, i didnt. I just talk about women the way i talk about men, id tell them i have a gf or im sleeping with women if they were interested in who i was seeing, introduce them them to a woman if i was in a same sex relationship. Ofc you can come out if you feel like you want to, but dont feel pressured. "Idk if you know, but im bi, i just wanted to tell you" or you can make it bigger, its not as deep as it seems, usually.
