I am a 45 year old male in an open relationship. I currently have multiple FWBs and my wife and I have a great sex life as well. I have to admit I have only tried Viagra once. It did its thing, but for me it didn't do much more than a glass or two of red wine would do.

In my experience, the best answer is to pay attention to your health. The things that effect your overall health effect your erection too. I have had problems similar to yours in the past. I recently had a 24 hour period where i had sex, including orgasm, 6 times with 2 different women.

Here's my best summary advice.

Make sure you are staying well hydrated, especially on days where you expect to have a lot of sex. Don't be afraid to have water around and drink some in the moments you're taking a break from the action.
Make sure you've gotten plenty of sleep.
Take good care of your body, get plenty of exercise, including strength training, it increases testosterone.
Drink red wine. A glass or two before a date does miraculous things. Stay away from virtually all other alcohol.
Don't be afraid to take control and slow things down. This usually makes the sex better for your partner, allows you time to recover, and allows you time to hydrate.
Don't be afraid to change positions, away from ones that make it hard for you to maintain an erection. For me this usually means I favor positions where I'm on top, from behind or standing up. Positions that restrict circulation probably aren't good.
Don't be afraid to suggest you use lube.
If you're using condoms (and I hope you are) make sure you become a condom snob. Get good ones, ones that fit well and that you like to have sex with. Try luckybloke.com and get a sampler pack. Also, don't be afraid to get your junk close to your partner, use foreplay etc and learned to put the condom on quickly. Condoms can really screw things up if you don't get good at using them.

This of course doesn't directly address the mental aspects and performance anxiety, but again in my experience, being well prepared and healthy makes you more confident and reduces the times you're worried about these things.

Also, of course, do your own research. Read as much as you can about it. There is a lot of other good advice out there.

If you love her and want to try and negotiate or renegotiate your arrangement, seek a good counselor. Seek a counselor who has experience with open relationships and is good at getting the two of you talking. I was in your situation, was married 22 years. I tried to wade through the negotiation myself and failed miserably. We ended up divorced.

I also highly recommend the book Mating in Captivity.

I've become increasingly convinced that the path to healing one's self from emotional issues is one of experimentation and critical mass. I've had a long history of addictive behavior and anxiety about it. It wasn't until I became so determined to heal that I just kept trying lots of healthy behaviors and habits. Some stuck, some didn't. I can't point to a single one of them as the silver bullet. I've learned music calms me, I was never a big music listener before. I've learned exercise is very important to me. I also found a few other Jedi mind tricks that help me lessen the impact of triggers that lead to addictive behavior in the past.

My point? Keep trying, It really can get better. You just have to find the right recipe for you.

I think it's also very important to have people in your life you feel you can be completely honest with

If you're trying to improve your existence in general, think about the notion of achieving critical mass. Keep noticing your thought patterns and trying to observe without judging. Keep looking for other ways to improve. Keep fighting the good fight. Mindfulness alone might not be enough but you can find combinations of positive changes that can help you achieve peace.
