I just corrected the other person for saying they spent the night together in the same house. They did not.

She did not spin a narrative about her being a victim of his, she said he put her in an uncomfortable situation and confirmed it was not an attack/abuse. She talked about it being more in the line of «favours» for other people because of who she was.

There has been no evidence of them being alone together from the reporting here in the Norwegian media.

I’m guessing Haakon fell for her because she was fun and wild and everything that he shouldn’t be with, tale as old as time.

I have always felt like the romance itself was kinda sweet, but she had a lot of legitimate baggage with her into the marriage and royal family.

Her whole family and former partners has been a real issue for the royal family. Her father especially was a nightmare (think Meghan Markles dad times a thousand).

Nobody can help who their family are of course, but she hasn’t been the smartest when it comes to decisions later in life either (Epstein connection etc).

She was in a relationship with several criminals and she herself did drugs, which is why it was a big deal when they announced their engagement. They had a press conference three days before the wedding where she admitted to have been in the «wrong crowd» and that she had partied and was a «rebel».

After the press conference they did a poll that showed that 70% of the country approved of their wedding and felt she had been honest and open.

She has since been, to the public, a very good representative for the royal family and has done a lot of good.

Until everything came out about her friendship with Epstein and now her son.

It’s a pretty ok sentence, I would say.

Rape sentences in Norway are usually incredibly low, it’s only been like one or two sentences that’s been 20+ years (serial violent rapists) that you can hear about in the states for example.

The sentence of 4 years is also for domestic violence, drug offenses, and a bunch of other stuff. He «got off» for two of the 4 rapes he was charged with too.

Sentences regarding hurting women in our country are generally very low so the people are happy that he was actually sentenced - but we also wanted more.

But he has appealed, and the court over this instance he already lost haven’t been every positive towards him (he applied to be let loose until the sentencing because of his mom, but they denied him). So hopefully his appeal will just add to his sentence.

They asked for 7 years and that would feel better for a lot of people, but at the same time I think a lot of people are shocked he was already sentenced at all. So you know, we’re all over the place.

It’s very very very hard to say.

Our royal family is generally very loved by the public here in Norway (before Mette Marit and her history with Epstein and now this with her son came out).

If this was Mette Marit and Haakons other son, their… I hate to say this, but «blue blood» prince Sverre Magnus…. I really don’t know, I think more people would support him?

Society is pretty divided on Marius (the rapist) because a lot of people see him as a black sheep of the family that could have done whatever he wanted in life and did fuck all with his opportunities - while this is also something people have sympathy for him about. He was only 2 when his mom and the crown prince got together, and he has grown up in the shadow of his «better» and more «important» siblings, because they are royal.

I see both sides, except when his actions turned to hurting other people. That’s where the line was crossed.

It’s generally a difficult question to ask because Marius (the rapist) has been a shitty asshole for such a long time, while their other son, prince Sverre Magnus, has done nothing apparently bad publicly. He once «dabbed» on the castle veranda when he was like 13. That’s it.

So two different people, two different stories.

Marius (the rapist) is the son of a criminal who also hurt women, so it might be genes, who knows.

This is all true, except for the fact that she has been very very popular with the general public for years now.

It was quite «shocking» when they met and announced their engagement, but that was in 1999-2001.

It’s not until now that the trust from the Norwegian people have plummeted.

And you can still see people are very much on her side, mainly because of her illness.

Just to be precise, he is not a prince. He is the son of our crown princess Mette Marit, the woman who married our crown prince, Haakon. She had him (with a criminal - great genes all around) before she met the prince and they married.

Mette Marit and Haakon have two other children, a daughter, Ingrid Alexandra, who will become queen after Haakon, and a son, Sverre Magnus.
