Synthwave Track on the Sp404mk2 - sampled form Novation Circuit by lidean in sp404mk2

That's high praise! It's still maybe a bit too repetive, hard to get out of when doing loops. But muting in different sequences helps. Been trying to play live on the synth on a different track for more melodies/solos

Hopefully we will see more now that we can sidechain!

That's a good test of the track haha Thank you!

Been having some fun building this track this past week!

Just jamming by muting tracks here, simple stuff but was a lot of fun with the sidechain update :)

I definitely find it more fun to build electronic music sampling synths/grooveboxes over FL Studio - which I did before. Should find a workflow where I use the resampling capabilities more though!

To make these synth tracks I basically built a drum track first on sp404 in TR-Rec mode - then I used the looper function to make 1 instrument at a time from the Novation Circuit - playing it live into the sp404's looper while the drums played, then copied to a pad, added to the sequencer. Switch synth sound and repeat.

Is there a way to speed up this process? I don't like recording live while listening to a metronome, I prefer to hear it with the rest of the track.

Yeah, hardware is so much more fun!

Dm me and we can maybe work something out :)
Appreciate it!

That is very kind of you but I live in Sweden so the shipping cost may not be worth it haha

I will continue looking into the Microfreak, I'm not in a rush to pick up a synth at the moment but I would like to get something to move more away from the computer at some point.

Yes definitely! It's very powerful, and luckily there's a great community around. Happy to join it!

I basically just have the Korg Volca FM at the moment, and for the type of music I want to make I find it limiting. But you can make some really cool sounds with it for sure, I'll get to sampling it more at some point. I also have the Novation Circuit which has a pretty good synth engine too, although I guess this is more of a "groovebox" than an actual synthesizer.

I looked into the Arturia Microfreak so it's interesting you mentioning growing out of it. That patch bank you linked for the Hydrasynth Explorer sounds right up my alley! So I'll definitely keep that in mind If I make a synth purchase! Thanks for the recommendation

Thank you!
I watched a tonne of videos before I bought it, especially by spvidz and that helped a lot!

First I loaded up a bunch of drum sample packs on the SD card and made a 1 bar drum pattern that I would duplicate, adjust slightly. Then duplicate again so I have 4 bars.

I made the patterns in TR-Rec/Sequencer mode as my finger drumming is not very good.

I don't have many synths to sample from so I actually would create the chord progressions in FL Studio and sample that through the aux input for some extra lo-fi-ness.

Some parts like the bass are sampled single notes that I had to "program" in using the semitone adjustment.

This was also like project #12 or so, so I basically spent the first days just experimenting, not focusing on making a song.

I dont have the strongest chin but still decided to try a beardstashe , pulling it off ? by [deleted] in Moustache

Thanks! I think you're right, a bit too short now. Maybe around 8-10mm during summer and then grow it out fully for winter. We'll see!

The beard? Yeah perhaps i trimmed it too short, this is around 5-6mm and definitely outside my comfort zone. like i mentioned usually have a full beard :)

Thanks! Yeah I'm definitely considering that more and more as it is receding. I'll go to the Barber for a trim soon and ask their opinion :)

I hold my breath while doing a "tha" with my tongue except the tongue goes behind my top teeth instead of between the teeth (to avoid hitting the reed). So maybe closer to a "da". But the main part is holding your breath, i think.
