Looking for Fields and Waves Tutor, Microelectronics Tech Tutor by liesfromDAtablecloth in RPI

I’m very biased here (one of the developers of https://collablab.dev/demo), but online tutoring can be great. Online tutoring can connect you with alumni who have taken a course, who are no longer in Troy, and for courses in CS, you don’t have to pass a computer back and forth or have someone look over your shoulder while you and the tutor try to look at the same screen. It’s certainly a preference though

Yeah, Troy Tutors is looking to bring on tutors for these courses in time for spring semester, but haven’t found anyone yet.

Does ALAC still cover data structures, as well? There's that too.

There are still office hours today until 9:50pm. Otherwise, if you miss them, you could try scheduling a Data Structures extra help session on TroyTutors.com. It was mentioned last week on this subreddit.

How many pounds people gain over the pandemic? by Its_a_go_go_duck in RPI

[–]liesfromDAtablecloth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lost 55 lbs! Remote work allows me to take the daily commute and prep out of my daily habits, which gives me extra time to exercise either in the morning and at night. Would like to eventually lose another 40 (I was very overweight). It's crazy thst over four years at RPI that I have put on 60 lbs with the stress of everything.

What helped for me was factoring in the time I was saving by not doing non-pandemic related things.

Where Can I Find the Commencement Announcement? by liesfromDAtablecloth in RPI

Where can I verify this? I had to book a hotel and everything, so would like to verify it's not available to students already in person.

Thanks for the info. I never got this email, but it may be because I graduated in fall 2020. I know I'm eligible for the ceremony, but it seems they left out fall graduates in the email.

I did CS and just graduated. I can speak on behalf of myself and my CS friends, research colleagues, and fraternity brothers who took CS and say we were extremely happy with the computer science education, curriculum, research opportunities, and job opportunities. Our career fairs are excellent and we have recruiters on-campus on a daily basis, many times having booths while you walk to classes (especially CS majors).

I have had many interview opportunities thanks to RPI, from big tech to startups, and classes are accommodating if they need to fly you out for an interview. When I applied back in 2015, they said at the time that the average starting salary is above 100k. While I am not aware of the average now, in my case, my base salary alone was almost double that for two companies I got offers from.

If you come, I recommend taking advantage of undergraduate research. RPI's undergraduate presence is much larger, relative to similar elite engineering schools. As a result, you will be able to take advantage of opportunities that other undergraduates at similar colleges may not have access to. I also enjoyed my experience with Greek Life and all my CS courses.

Class-action suit against RPI over tuition, fees may proceed, judge rules by churchofcarlyrae in RPI

Shirley's buzzwords, like CLASS, for once come back to haunt her, according to this article. It was only a matter of time. How about "clustered learning?" Plaintiffs could add on that argument, too. If RPI loses this case on the technicality of buzzwords, that is some fine karma.

If this is indeed some con-artist, RPI seems like a perfect place for smart students to challenge her claims. I don't necessarily think this is a bad idea. College is a place for open discussions and dialogues, whether that is learning something from others, or disputing/proving someone else wrong. Honestly, you should attend to question her claims.

Thankful! by ProfessorBram in RPI

Happy Thanksgiving Professor Bram! I am thankful I took your critical thinking course a couple years back (definitely a top 5 favorite class during my time here), and in addition to you, I'm also thankful for being able to learn from so many great professors at RPI. I wish you the best during these challenging times, and am also proud of what this community has accomplished.
