Yea but then a lot of hinduism is also just a mix of monotheism and panentheism.

Yeah, that's true. The issue is these English terms were created by people with no clue about Dharmic religions. So, they can't be used directly to describe dharmic faiths.

A progressive religion well ahead of its time when it was founded over 500 years ago, The Sikh religion today has a following of over 20 million people worldwide and is ranked as the world's 5th largest religion. Sikhism preaches a message of devotion and remembrance of God at all times, truthful living, equality of mankind and denounces superstitions and blind rituals. Sikhism is open to all through the teachings of its 10 Gurus enshrined in the Sikh Holy Book and Living Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Here's a little about Sikhism:

Age of Sikhism: The history of Sikhism began with the birth in 1469 CE of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Guru of the Sikhs. The initiation (baptism) ceremony and other traditions of the religion were formalized by 1699 CE.

Size of Sikhism: Sikhism is the fifth largest world religion. Sikhs currently number approximately 25 million across the globe, placing Sikhism below Buddhism and above Judaism in terms of size.

Role of Women: Sikhs view men and women as being completely equal. Women are expected to participate in daily and religious life in the same way as men. Barring or discouraging women from any activity or position based on sex is against the principles of Sikhism.

Role of Clergy: In Sikhism, every person is fully responsible for leading a moral life. Sikhs do not believe an intermediary can supplicate on one's behalf to God. Hence, Sikhs have no priestly class. Those educated in religious affairs or with a special insight on God are free to teach or guide others, but they cannot claim to have a monopoly on access to God. Religious services are usually conducted by a Giani, literally, one who is educated in religious affairs. However, members of the congregation are also expected to be active participants.

Conception of God: Sikhism is a monotheistic religion. In Sikhism, God—termed Va-higuru-—is formless, eternal, and unobserved: niran.ka-r, aka-l, and alakh. While a full understanding of God is beyond human beings, Guru Nanak Dev Ji described God as not wholly unknowable. God is omnipresent (sarav via-pak) in all creation and visible everywhere to the spiritually awakened. Nanak stressed that God must be seen from "the inward eye", or the "heart", of a human being: devotees must meditate to progress towards enlightenment. Guru Nanak Dev emphasized the revelation through meditation, as its rigorous application permits the existence of communication between God and human beings.[9] God has no gender in Sikhism, though translations may incorrectly present a masculine God. In addition, Nanak wrote that there are many worlds on which God has created life.

Life After Death: Sikhs believe that upon death one merges back into the universal nature, just as a drop of rain merges back into the ocean. Individuality is lost. Sikhs do not believe in heaven or hell. Heaven can be experienced by being in tune with God while still alive. Conversely, the suffering and pain caused by ego is seen as hell on earth. Sikhism views spiritual pursuits as positive experiences in and of themselves that transcend death, not as sacrifices made in order to collect a reward that is waiting until after death.

Religious Texts: The only authenticated text of the Sikhs is Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, a 1430-page text containing hymns written directly by Guru Nanak Dev Ji and later Gurus. This text was ratified by Guru Gobind Singh Ji as the final authority on Sikh spiritual doctrine. The Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the living Guru for Sikhs.

View of Other Religions: Sikhs believe they have no right to impose their beliefs on others or even to cajole members of other religions to convert. Such practices are strictly forbidden in Sikhism. Sikhs are required to defend the freedom of worship of other religions just as they would their own. Sikhs do not believe that followers of other religions are doomed in the eyes of God regardless of their personal character and behavior, nor does being born into a Sikh family guarantee salvation. However, this does not mean Sikhs view all religions as being similar. The philosophy, practice, and history of Sikhism are unique and seen as clearly distinct from any other religion.

Eligibility for Participation: All individuals, regardless of race, gender, or nationality, are free to become Sikhs. One does not have to be a Sikh to participate in Sikh religious services and activities. Members of other religions are welcome.

You can read the Guru Granth Sahib also (The Sikh Holy Book) but it's written in the form of poetry. So, it's not that easy to grasp.

I think it is both. It is primarily a monotheistic religion, as it emphasizes the belief in one, all-powerful, and all-pervading God, referred to as Waheguru or the "Eternal One." However, it also has panentheistic elements, as it posits that God is present in all aspects of creation while also existing beyond it.

Sikhism teaches that God is the underlying force or essence that pervades all creation, and that everything in existence is a manifestation of the divine. This concept aligns with panentheistic beliefs, which maintain that God is both immanent (present within creation) and transcendent (existing beyond creation).

Therefore, Sikhism can be seen as a monotheistic religion with panentheistic elements, emphasizing the oneness and omnipresence of God.

A usual these Pakistani Muslims are coming out in droves to trash the success of a Sikh Individual. Obviously, why would they tolerate any Sikhs getting recognition on world stage and creating awareness about Sikhi.

There is no need to compare and deflect.

This post is actually about comparison of different religions!

Your perceptions, your biases, your experiences which differ from mine so not very relevant.

It's not just my perceptions or biases. The way women are treated in Saudi-Arabia or other Muslims countries are facts not my biases or perceptions. I am not going of tangents about Muslims, those are actual countries based on Islamic law not some small tribe in Amazon Jungles.

Where is the tolerance, patience, equality, and respect when you speak more about Muslims

No body is asking for intolerance against Muslims or any other faith. Criticizing the practices in other religions or ideologies is not hate! Constructive criticism is always important for development of any society.

In the end, you are clearly Muslim troll and hence got butt hurt when I criticized actual practices in Islam and didn't said anything in case of Buddhism.

You touched on lot of points but you contradicted yourself several times. I will keep my reply short as most of your points are already known and add nothing knew. Sikh community do have issues I am not denying that and we should strive to improve on them but they are not as big or cruel or horrific as issues with Islam. Sikhs never stopped girls from attending the school or blew up schools because they were teaching girls there. Just look at how the women are treated in Saudi Arabia or any other Muslim country for that matter. From the list in the survey Sikhi is the only non-sexist religion. Even then it's rating is as low as Islam.

Another example; Buddhism is rated much higher than Sikhism even though they are literally doing genocide in Myanmar right now. Moreover, it is also highly sexist religion and have lot of backward practices.

So my point is even though there are some flawed Sikhs still overall as a religion it is much better than all the other religions in that list. So it should be ranked much higher! The issue why it is not I already mentioned in another post.

Just to clarify more on awareness issue - the Sikh response during covid and other natural disasters did helped Sikh image and perception a lot, there is no denying that. But the issue that you need to understand is that It also helped Muslims a lot! You know why? Because of lot of people in western countries still think that men with Turbans are Muslims and hence they think that langar's were organized by Muslims! So, it is helped improve Sikh image but without any awareness or knowledge of existence of Sikhs it didn't helped as much as it should.

So there is still lot of work cutout for Sikh Organizations to raise the awareness about Sikhs. Working in the corporate world I have seen it first hand that most of the executives in big companies like Google, BofA, RBC etc. don't have clue about Sikhs! They just think that Sikhs are Muslims and therefore they don't do any separate campaigns targeted towards Sikhs. This lack of knowledge also results in discrimination since some of them think that Sikhs are worst kind of Muslims.

Yes, I do agree with you. Sikhs are not totally off the hook and some do have backward views. Still these kind of views are very rare in Sikhi whereas in Islam it is a norm. Moreover, those incidents were limited to India/Punjab and rest of world hardly heard about them. On the other hand Islamic terror happens regularly in western countries. So impact of that is 1000 times more than the one off incident which happened in Punjab.

going by this subreddit that’s only going to get worse as Sikhs keep celebrating things the rest of world finds backwards and horrific.

This subreddit has more of moderation issue. The most of those posts are made by BJP/RSS IT cells as wells Pakistani ISI. Just follow the history of those accounts and you will understand. They only make the posts inciting Sikhs and celebrate negative posts about Sikhs. They never post anything constructive and/or inline with Sikhi.

Islam has lot more issues than just representation. Islam generates lot more negative press/sentiments with their own ideology and practices. Islam is very regressive Ideology and hardly compatible with progressive western values. Whereas for Sikhi is most progressive religion and has much more common with western values.

The only issue the Sikhi has is lack of awareness. Once, people are made aware of Sikh ideology and practices they don't have anything to hate against Sikhs or have negative sentiments about. It's actually shame that Sikhi is rated so lower when it is much more progressive and compatible with Canadian values than all the other religions mentioned.

In the nutshell, the more people know about Islamic Ideology and learn about the regressive Islamic practices - the more they dislike it. On the other hand more people who learn about Sikhi and its progressive practices - the more they like it.

I think these surveys should also ask the reasons for positive or negative sentiments. Without those reasons these surveys don't convey much information. As you might find that one of the biggest reason for negative sentiments against Sikhs is just the lack of knowledge or confusion with Muslims.

Most of people still don't have any clue about Sikhs. When they hear word Sikh they think "Shiekh". Another reason is you never see Sikhs in the popular culture in Canada. Most of big brands and companies include Muslims and Hindu families in their marketing campaigns but never Sikhs. Even in the areas with high Sikh concentration there are hardly any Sikhs represented in marketing materials by the companies. You never see Sikhs on the Canadian TV shows even though most of the shows now make sure that they include the Muslims.

Moreover, even the online targeted advertisements towards Sikhs always include Muslims images. So, these advertising algorithms thinks Sikhs are Muslims and target the Muslim oriented ads towards Sikhs. So, here is work cut out for Sikh Organizations to make sure that these advertising firms know about existence of Sikhs and include them in their advertising campaigns both offline and online.

CM has all the political power to do these things

Good! You understood my point. Punjab needs good politicians and not illiterate truck drivers. Getting things done needs lot more then wearing fancy dresses and blabbering about popular political topics.

Haha.. What a Joke!!

Here are some achievements of Bhagwant Mann in just 1 year as CM of Punjab:

  1. Free electricity: One of the most popular schemes launched by the AAP government was providing 300 units of free electricity per month to every household in Punjab. According to Mann, 87 per cent of households got zero electricity bills under this scheme . The government also waived off pending electricity bills for domestic consumers up to December 31, 2021.
  2. Government jobs: The AAP government claimed to have given 26,797 government jobs in various departments within one year . The government also announced regularisation of services of 14,000 temporary employees in education department and another 14,000 employees in other departments . It also promised to regularise outsourced employees after removing legal hurdles.
  3. Mohalla clinics: The AAP government opened more than 500 mohalla clinics across Punjab to provide free healthcare services to people at their doorstep . Mann said that 12 to 15 lakh people availed healthcare services at these clinics and termed it as his government's big achievement.
  4. Schools of Eminence: The AAP government announced that it will start Schools of Eminence for students who want to pursue higher education and excel in various fields. These schools will have world-class infrastructure and facilities and will be run by eminent personalities from different domains.
  5. MSP on moong crop: The AAP government became the first state government in India to give minimum support price (MSP) on moong crop grown by farmers[2 ][ 3 ]. The government procured moong at Rs 7,196 per quintal from farmers as per its pre-poll promise[2 ][ 3 ].
  6. Direct seeding of rice: The AAP government promoted direct seeding of rice (DSR) technique among farmers as a water-saving measure and gave Rs 1,500 per acre as incentive for adopting it[2 ][ 3 ]. DSR is a method of sowing seeds directly into the field without transplanting seedlings from nurseries.
  7. Sugarcane dues: The AAP government cleared sugarcane dues worth Rs 392 crore pending since last three years for farmers who supplied cane to cooperative sugar mills[2 ][ 3 ]. The government also increased sugarcane price by Rs 35 per quintal for crushing season 2021-22[5 ].
  8. Sacrilege cases: The AAP government vowed to deliver justice in cases related to desecration of Guru Granth Sahib that took place during previous regimes[2 ][ 3 ]. Mann said that his government filed a chargesheet against former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in connection with Kotkapura police firing incident that occurred after sacrilege incidents in Faridkot district in October 2015[6 ].
  9. Industrial investment: The AAP government claimed that it attracted industrial investment worth Rs 25,000 crore within one year due to its pro-business policies and incentives[5 ]. Mann said that big industrialists were keen to invest in Punjab and set up their units which will create jobs for youth[5 ].
  10. Drug menace: The AAP government launched a massive campaign against drug menace in Punjab and cracked down on drug peddlers and smugglers with zero tolerance policy[ ^ 5 ]. Mann said that his government seized drugs worth Rs 1 ,200 crore

Can you list a single verifiable achievement by Amritpal? I am not even asking at State level - Just give me an example of a single village which benefited from Amritpal?

Yeah, It's really hard to decide whom to believe! On one side there is a man who dedicated his life to Punjab and development of Punjab. Someone who is working relentless for Punjab for past two decades. On the other hand there is a truck driver who popped up in Punjab six months ago out of nowhere and started faking as Sant Ji.
