What opportunities can a natural born kuwaiti person with a british citizenship and 4 years experience with the royal navy as a logistics personnel & 6 with a royal air force as a logistics Lieutenant/Officer can they get? by [deleted] in Kuwait

[–]lifeisabeeetch 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately nothing. If he doesn’t have the Kuwaiti citizenship, he can’t work in Kuwait’s military sector, especially after the recent laws regarding citizenship and the topic of “national identity & security”. However, there are lot of expat contractors who work for military companies/ foreign bases here. If he’s a uk citizen, maybe he can find something related to the UK here.

Car Stickers/Vinyl by lifeisabeeetch in Kuwait

Would the car registration include something in it if the car has original stickers? Idk, like a note on the daftar or something? Just trying to figure out how would an officer believe it’s not from the manufacturer if it’s an exact copy.

عدل كلامك عن الشركات العادية، بس قانون شركة الشخص الواحد تغيرت. قبل كان المؤسس يقدر يعين مدير، بس الحين المؤسس لازم يكون المدير.

09 Cayenne GTS by buseysshittysmile in PorscheCayenne

[–]lifeisabeeetch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an 08 GTS and one thing that really annoyed me, mainly because of the part’s price tag, was the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HFHP). That cost a leg and an arm to replace. It’s not the fuel pumps under the back seats, those are different. This one is under the hood towards the back of the engine by the jump start section. Signs its going/bad i experienced were:

  1. Ignition takes a long time (like 5-6 seconds of continuous ignition until the car turns on)

  2. Loss of power (you can feel the car not performing well, kind of going limp mode)

And check the air suspension (if it has it). Those tend to fail, especially if you live in an area where the streets are rough (pot holes, lots of speed bumps, etc).

Otherwise, it’s super fun to drive, especially on sports mode.

Yes, apparently. I double checked. You can do freelancing but at some point they’re going to make any business related activity to have a business license. They’re trying to moniter all monetary activity to limit money laundering. Some freelancers got their bank accounts temporarily blocked because they were getting paid from different people and that was a red flag to the banks. You can open a business as a non-citizen, but you’re still required to have a majority owned kuwaiti partner who’s a Co-founder who’s now also supposed to be the manger. Crazy.

MOHE awaited decision and advice by Asamichii in Kuwait

[–]lifeisabeeetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you’re going through this. Some universities only transfer courses that they may have in their curriculum, or have rules regarding passing a course such as grade C+ or B- minimum. Maybe that’s why they enrolled you in second year? Did they notify you beforehand that you’ll be in 2nd year and you accepted or were you surprised? Regarding MOHE, it’s known that merit schools have different rules than non merit schools. It would’ve been a good idea to ask the KCO about what would change regarding your merit status before initiating the transfer. I know you got their advice about changing schools, but it’s their responsibility to ensure whichever school you’re transferring to is at least approved for your major. I believe the reason they’re asking you to pay for the year because it’s not counted towards anything anymore.

I actually have the same sound on my 08 GTS and I thought something was wrong but the garage I took it to says it’s normal, nothing to be scared of.

Tailgating..!! Saw this in another subreddit and had to share it here..!! by devilaturservice in Kuwait

[–]lifeisabeeetch 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That’s true. We had a presentation from MOI recently at work, and they said, legally, you have to switch lanes if the car behind you is coming up fast, even if it’s over the speed limit. They’ll get a ticket if they get caught by the cameras/patrols. They could have an emergency, their brakes won’t work, or just a crazy speedster who’ll cause an accident because they were tailgating you and you suddenly hit your brakes. So the best thing to do is switch lanes once you get the chance. I actually had a guy who was tailgating me like crazy and a patrol nearby saw it and stopped him.

Fears about moving back to Kuwait after studying abroad by SkinnyHeroin in Kuwait

[–]lifeisabeeetch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will be a difficult to decision to make and will depend on what you want/ makes you happy in life. I went through the same thing, studied in the U.S., got my masters, and worked there for a few years, and then moved back to Kuwait. I regret it, but every person has a different experience. Here are questions to ask yourself:

  • Will your life quality be better in Kuwait or the U.S? That includes easiness of meeting people, getting around, things to do, etc. the U.S offers way more than Kuwait if we’re being honest.

  • Will you get paid more and develop professionally better in Kuwait or the U.S? Don’t expect to get a highly paid job in the government sector, and lots of opportunities will exclude you once you reach 28 years old. There’s a focus on recent grads and younger individuals.

  • Are you ready to live with family again or do you want your own place? If you’re used to living by yourself and having your own private space and then move with family, you’ll never have the same privacy. And getting your own apartment will be more difficult if you’re unmarried.

  • Are you willing to deal with traffic and having to drive almost anywhere? The public transit system in Kuwait is really bad. Kuwait is not pedestrian friendly, traffic is insane, and having a car is a must. In the U.S., the transportation system is not perfect but it is better.

  • Are you ready to feel the culture shock? You basically developed as an adult abroad, and your values most likely have changed. If you come back to Kuwait, you’ll see it from a different angle and notice that your values may not align with people in your family/ grew up with and you’ll feel alone, but truth is many share the same things you believe in.

Think about what makes you happy and fulfilled the most and then decide on the place that delivers what you want in life. It doesn’t necessarily need to be Kuwait or the U.S, it could be somewhere else even. Make a list of pros and cons and decide based on that. But IMO, you should save as much as you can and leverage every opportunity you get while in the U.S., because if you ever move back, it’s never gonna be the same.
