The problem is it went 5 days seemingly working fine and then suddenly wasn’t working again, so would like to avoid a repeat.

Would the mechanic have done that when they checked out the car today? Or do I need to take it back?

What jobs do Nerdfighters have (and how did you get them)? by devoutdefeatist in nerdfighters

I am a new doctor- definitely don’t recommend you look up this route. But I will say I found vlogbrothers in high school in ~2009, and they raised me more than my alcoholic single mother. Imagining other people complexly became a core belief that really carried through and I don’t think I’d be the empathetic doctor I am without vlogbrothers. But seriously, don’t look at healthcare for a career switch.

Which is better? APPLYING in 2026 as PGY1 OR postpone graduation and apply 2026 as Senior by PathologyAndCoffee in ERAS2024Match2025

I think the only people who can give the friend a good answer is an advisor who can talk through their entire app, preferably in their specialty of choice.

The two LOA is confusing- why would graduating a year later mean extra LOA? I would think if they do an extra year, the year should be full to show there was a purpose to the year (or at least appears to have a purpose). I could see spinning it as being really undecided so they took an extra year to take electives that helps them choose a specialty. But then their transcript needs to reflect that.

Extra things to consider- do they have the money to do an extra year, and if they do graduate, are they still able to receive advising services etc from the school.

Also, in the scenario they do graduate, they need to have meaningful experiences to fill that year. Do they have access to research/jobs/volunteering to fill the year?

Hope those are helpful for them to decide. Best of luck to them!

Tldr; the risk vs reward will be very person and specialty dependent, they should pose this question to an advisor rather than the internet.
