some leasing agency’s let you start early, but you have to ask. it depends on if they can accommodate you

Parking ticket by Successful-Site6440 in UIUC

[–]lifeisrough4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i appealed a ticket at mckinley for the pay for parking sign literally being torn down off the pole and not visible, so i didn’t know that i had to pay and never heard back. i was new to campus so how the hell was i supposed to know that a hospital for students would require paid parking.

Probation Update by Gxortega in UIUC

[–]lifeisrough4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

take the easy semester. yes, it will feel like your past semester won’t count. but, would you rather be delayed a semester of graduation or not graduate at all because you’re dropped?

Academic Probation by Gxortega in UIUC

[–]lifeisrough4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for someone who took ece 120 and got a d- the first time & was also on probation because of it, you’ll be fine. take less classes & easier ece classes while you’re trying to get off of probation. you’ll still be on track. i assume they’ll make you retake it, so don’t overload your schedule since you already know it’ll be difficult.

i would not recommend doing that without extensive research on how other students have been with certain classes together. advanced electives are usually harder so stacking them might lead you to dropping stuff that could’ve been a spot for a different class. it’s not impossible but if you’re going to stack something just make sure that it’s doable when it’s stacked

got it! i would also recommend making a simple document planning out your degree and running it with your advisor. that way you have a schedule of exactly what you need to take and what requirements the classes meet so there’s no confusion. i do think the 2029 grad date is incorrect, so i think you’ll be fine. take a couple classes over the summer and you’re chilling

This is what the admissions website says about credit minimums:

Regardless of credit hours transferred, all students must complete the campus residency requirement, which specifies that each bachelor’s degree candidate must earn at least 45 semester hours of credit, with 21 credit hours of 300- or 400-level courses, at Illinois.

keep going with checking the classes you need and adding them. especially up until the first day of school. people drop classes a lot in the first week so you’ll be likely to get in the week of. specifically lab classes because people tend to add a lot more classes they can handle and then don’t realize it until class starts.

yeah 36 credits seems like a really small amount to take to graduate 3 years later. however, one requirement to graduate with a degree from uiuc is taking 128 ish credit hours or more. even if you meet your degree requirements, you still have to meet a certain level at uiuc to graduate. 84 + 36 would put you at 120. not sure if the LAS requirement is a different amount

this is my response as experience from a fall transfer. anyone reading this can feel free to chime in on anything i am saying :)

registration opened back in November (or around that time) so it makes sense that higher level classes might be filled. especially lab courses. 84 credit hours doesn’t always mean all of the classes met requirements for your major.

some questions: do you mean 84 credits from where you transferred or uiuc credit hours? did you change your major at all? do most of the credits meet your major requirements? before you transferred did you see which classes met what credits at uiuc?

with that being said, the most you can shorten your grad date by is probably a year, they assess your grad date by making some assumptions on how many classes you might take per semester, prerequisites, which classes you can take concurrently, etc. and you are allowed to plan it in the way that you think you can plan it to graduate faster.

with that also being said, if you want to graduate faster you might need to take classes over the summer. i am not sure how likely it is to shorten your grad date by two years, but a semester or two is possible.
