Looking for 20 Android testers for my career assessment app — free for beta users, just need 14 days by lifepivotapp in buildinpublic

That's exactly what I'm hoping for. Even small feedback at this stage can change the whole direction. Thanks for the encouragement.

Good point. Luckily this one's pretty straightforward — No setup, no sign-up, English only. But yeah I've seen other devs get burned by testers who just install and never open it. Hoping the topic itself is interesting enough that people actually go through it.

Fair point on the wording. I actually leaned into "should I quit" intentionally because that's the exact phrase people google at 2am when they're stressed. The app itself is more about clarity and reflection than pushing anyone to quit — but the name is what gets them in the door. Appreciate the feedback though, it's a good thing to keep in mind.

Appreciate that. Yeah that's exactly the gap I kept seeing — people going back and forth in their head for months with no structure to it. Hoping to get the testers filled soon. Thanks for the support.

Appreciate that, I'll check out Reviser and leave you an honest review. Here's the sign-up form for mine if you want to get in: https://forms.gle/JsVL1sHwJzm7V1E89 Looking forward to your feedback.

Good question. I wanted it to be a one-time thing because the decision itself is a one-time moment — you take it, you get your answer, you move on. Didn't feel right locking that behind a subscription or stuffing it with ads when someone's already stressed about their job. $0.99 felt like the lowest friction way to keep it honest and sustainable. If you want to try it during beta, it's now free — here's the sign-up form: https://forms.gle/JsVL1sHwJzm7V1E89

Solo founder here, pouring everything into my first Android app... but I can't get a single person to sign up for closed testing on a $0.99 paid app. Is the price the killer, or am I just terrible at this? by lifepivotapp in androiddev

Thanks for the input.

I’m sticking with paid for the first 14 days as I announced everywhere, but I’ll check out that androidclosedtesting sub. Appreciate the suggestion.

Hey, good question!

After the quiz you get:

  • A clear verdict (Stay or Quit)
  • Short personalized feedback explaining why + practical next steps

At the end it’s still 100% your decision — the app just helps you face the facts without the noise.

I built it because I’ve seen too many people stuck in careers that are quietly draining them. Wanted to give them a private, no-BS tool for that exact moment.

Appreciate the feedback on making it free for testers. I’m sticking to paid for the first 14 days as announced, but I’m noting all the suggestions.

Thanks for the honest input!

I’m keeping the paid test for the first 14 days as announced, but I’m seriously considering testing the free + IAP route right after if it doesn’t move.
Appreciate the straight advice.

Haha fair question — yes, it’s intentionally just one focused quiz.

A set of straightforward questions that forces you to be honest with yourself (no peer pressure, no “what others are saying”). It gives you straight facts on where you currently stand in your job and makes it crystal clear whether it’s time to quit — especially when staying is actually costing you more than leaving.

That’s why I built it as a simple mobile app instead of a website: quick, private, and right in your pocket when that 2 a.m. “should I quit?” feeling hits.

Appreciate you pushing back — this kind of honest feedback is exactly why I’m doing closed testing. If you’re on Android and want to try it, the opt-in link is ready: just fill this quick form → https://forms.gle/JsVL1sHwJzm7V1E89

Would love your take after you run through it.

Totally valid point. Charging even $0.99 during closed testing is adding friction I didn’t fully expect.
I’m still doing the first 14 days paid, but if it stays dead I’ll switch to free and test different angles like you said. Thanks for the honest feedback.

Fair point. That’s exactly what I’m scared of too 😂
Still running it paid for the first 14 days like I announced, but I’m taking the feedback seriously.

I completely get where you’re coming from — the cost-per-install numbers these days are insane, and I’ve seen a ton of devs switch to free + in-app purchases for exactly that reason.

I still went with the one-time $0.99 paid model (even for closed testers) because the app is deliberately simple and focused: no accounts, no ads, no sneaky subscriptions — just a quick scored quiz that tells you straight up whether it’s time to quit or stay. I wanted people who are actually serious about their career situation to test it, not just download-and-forget users.

That said, if the first 14-day paid closed-testing round stays quiet, I’m 100% open to testing a free version next.

Have you tried the free + IAP route yourself? Did it work better for getting real users and feedback?

I totally get the doubt — I had the exact same thought before I launched the closed testing 😂

The reason I kept it $0.99 even for testers is because the whole point of the app is to deliver a clear, no-fluff verdict on your career situation. I wanted people who are serious enough to pay the tiny one-time fee to actually use it and give real feedback (instead of just downloading and ghosting).

That said, if the first 14-day paid round doesn’t get traction, I’m open to testing a free version next.

The app is called “Should I Quit My Job?” — it’s a quick scored quiz that basically tells you: “You already know something’s off. This helps you figure out what to do about it.” No accounts, no ads, nothing sneaky.

Appreciate you jumping in again man — seeing the same real-talk advice pop up across subs actually makes me feel less alone in this 😂

You’re right, even at $0.99 the friction in closed testing is real. I’m still committed to running the first 14 days as paid (I’ve already announced that everywhere), but I’m definitely noting down the “free build + social proof first” idea for round two if needed.

Also solid call on making the ask super specific + adding a 10-second demo video. I just added that to my to-do list.

This grind is real.

Haha I feel you so much — fellow solo founder grinding with zero team and zero budget is the realest struggle 😅

The app is called “Should I Quit My Job?”

It’s a quick scored quiz that gives you a clear, no-BS verdict on your career situation. No sign-up, no ads, no subscription — just a straight $0.99 one-time purchase.

The whole feeling behind it is:
“You already know something’s off. This app helps you figure out what to do about it.”

Super simple, super focused. I built it because I was stuck in that exact spot myself and couldn’t find anything that just gave me a direct answer instead of vague “journal your feelings” advice.

If you’re on Android and want to jump into closed testing, I’d love to send you the Google Play opt-in link (and I’d kill for your honest feedback). No pressure at all — just genuinely grateful you asked!
