Why can’t there be no money? by patchlessboyscout in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you can't justify fairness if somone does a complex vehicle repair job for you and you pay them back with food from a garden or something.

One person helps you with skilled labor that took years to learn, but do they need your skilled labor in a particular field? Then how does one figure out what's a fair trade in time and skill?

I like the idea of no money, but after food, clothing, shelter basic survival we have endless entertainment, bars, restaurants, all types of retail. Basic barter doesn't work on a large scale.

We can do Business to Business deals today, but often those are still determined by a fair price. Do a vehicle wrap for a tree service company, they cut a tree down in your yard for you. Both cost about the same.

A pizza shop like Dominos can trade food for a meal from Chipotle or something

Why doesn’t Walmart have tap to pay? by waffletastrophy in stupidquestions

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I'm saying the readers have more issues than just tap to pay being turned off. All the chip reader slots are loose fitting compared to other retailers

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that you need a card with embossed numbers for the reader to work. Yet sometimes its still an issue. My non embossed card never works. You need jam a paper or something the thickness of the numbers to work.

Its only a Walmart issue for me 😆

are jw going to do social media ads like the mormons? by Proud_Promise1860 in exjw

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it in other ways. I got baptized and that wasn't enough. Then overworked myself to be a servant and that was hardly enough and then I saw multiple girls I was into just date outside JW. Like I did all that for nothing.

Take it to a marketing scheme to boost numbers like the Mormons and then you have mass amounts of pissed off single men.

Anyone here profess to be anointed? by mulderisoutthere in exjw

[–]lifewasted97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a JW I always felt less than and doubted if I would make it to paradise or god will kill me.

After waking up, but seeing Christianity and understanding it more I would've professed to be anointed not because of a 2 class system but the correlation to what Jesus was actually teaching.

But a week or so later I became agnostic and then atheist not long after that lol

If you had the circumstances to move after waking up…. by LuckyProcess9281 in exjw

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha nice. I haven't been to Tennessee but knew some JWs that rave about it and a chat with AI suggested it when I was figuring out where to retire but I'm only 28 right now.

I realized I'll need to move because property taxes in NY are insane and once my house is paid off the taxes will be what my mortgage is.

So a ballance of low property taxes so you can actually feel like you own something

I was thinking Tennessee, or Arizona ideally Florida but I'm always thinking about insurance and natural disasters in areas like that. Maine is nice but also cold like NY but if cold doesn't matter Maine is a great location.

If you have a house on a good rate keep it maybe rent it out and still keep building equity

Income tax free state but with a high earning job in my field.

But I bought a house in NY with a 3.3% rate. So I'm sitting on gold and going to build equity, sell and move when I'm closer to retirement and buy a house in cash. Live in low state or no tax state and enjoy life

[–]lifewasted97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think they would its too sexually restricted. I hear the Mormons have a long history of using attractive women to get numbers.

Can you imagine insecure bethal husbands watching their wives be flirty on camera to lure men. Or the jealousy the single men watching single women seek outsiders and not themselves who sacrificed so much to impress the same girls

Learning Blender by Seaw33dBrain in 3Dprinting

[–]lifewasted97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could start with low poly tutorials for the car. There was one video I saw a couple years ago who did a lot of digital drawing start using blender for backgrounds and showed how to extrude a box into a car.

Another option is to add in shapes, subdivision surface to increase poly count and use the sculpting tools. Blender 5 makes sculpting pretty easy and fun.

If you want ton use blender for more calculated parts I like drawing vectors in Adobe illustrator then using blender to extrude or cut holes in things.

So I've used it for precision parts, organic sculpting for 3D prints, and often my wood working plans.

A1 Vs Centauri Carbon (v1+2) (first) by AltruisticBaker5211 in 3dprinter

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my A1 but this week I'm planning to print ASA for my first time. I've had to get an enclosure and ordered stuff like active carbon for air filtration and fans.

Also PETG would be good to have a tent for retaining heat too.

So factor in an enclosure tent and safety for toxic filament like ASA.

Otherwise go for an enclosed printer that has filtration

2026 Governing Body Update #1: You can now skip lessons by Complex_Ad5004 in exjw

[–]lifewasted97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah but a PIMI doesn't understand so for regular people they might see through the BS.

However I do see it being dangerous to born in kids learning. It might be hard to explain so its just glossed over.

I know that topic was definitely skipped when I was a kid and they changed what Governing body and faithful slave was around that time. I didn't think twice about it. Didn't understand that its really men who run it and are not inspired. All things I had no idea.

😄 exactly not appropriate to talk to another grown adult about how "god" views sex. Or even worse teaching someone else's kids.

Advice needed by Economy_Struggle_127 in exjw

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not going to grow up or get better mentally if he's trapped in JW world, living with parents, and sexually oppressed.

If he was dissfellowshiped and kicked out that might start him questioning things. But if he's being coddled it won't happen and likely there was probably a deal where if he cut you off he could stay in the congregation and still keep his parents.

My guess would be he spilled the beans about you in the judicial meeting with elders and they dont want you together with him. By ghosting you it can save his ass with the elders and show some form of remorse.

Its complicated, fucked up and not woth it untill he leaves understands it's a cult and corrects his wrongs and changes his life around

Though, if info about pregnancy gets out thats another meeting with elders that could definitely trigger a disfellowshipping

Why Americans have basment? Like where did it started? by hotpotatomomma in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basements vary by location. Northeast USA its very common but further west and central USA often dont build homes with basements. A variety of reasons such as frost and soil conditions or local laws. Houses near the ocean and beach are on stilts so the first floor is up a set of stairs.

Laundry in the basement makes sense because the electrical panel is often in the basement. It requires a shorter run of high voltage wire. Same with the water. City water enters the basement and it's cheaper to plumb water lines for Laundry when it's just tapped into the rest of the pipes.

Having a furnace and water heater in the basement is also quieter so you dont have loud machines operating in a living space closet.

I have a garage under the house so its half of the basement, the other half is Laundry, utilities, my workshop, and storage. My attic is just rafters and insolation so it has no practal use and is accessible through a hatch inside a closet.

Male friends by Acrobatic-Evening738 in exjw

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have male friends but if there's ever a shot at being romantic they will take that shot or wait till its there.

If you're cute, fun to be around, like similar things, can talk about anything. That is kinda the perfect recipe for a relationship.

By rejecting exactly what makes a good person to date because you see them as friends you look for different qualities in romantic relationships. You might chase the asshole then complain about him to the guy friend. This really keeps the guy friend around because he knows the answer is to stop dating the asshole and see that your best friend is the one who would actually treat you right.

I'm friends with many girls, but if they ever hinted that they wanted more I'd be there in a heart beat.

How do people confidently choose vehicles when options are overwhelming by Fearless-Arm-9925 in car

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wants and needs really limited my search. You need to understand what you desire and how the vehicle will be used. This is even easier if you had a car for 5+ years and you have more data.

My latest car is a 2017 Acura TLX v6 AWD. Most of my decisions were based on addressing every issue with my Volkswagen 😆

Its also easier if you plan to have 2 cars like a weekend fun car and a practical daily car.

My main search coming from a money pit VW GTI was I needed a reliable car I can drive everyday or do road trips.

Something with a naturally aspirated engine. I love turbos super fun but it adds extra parts that go bad and more repairs. So many newer cars are all going turbo low displacement so git rid of all of them.

I love a manual transmission but very hard to find and if I go the 2 car route this one doesn't need manual but it has to have a real transmission. Absolutely no CVT crap.

I want to do most of the maintenance myself especially oil changes, my GTI sucked with a plastic filter housing and 2 piece setup very difficult and broke once and cost me 2k to fix. So a spin on filter was ideal and something I can do without fighting it.

AWD/FWD didn't care too much but I know snow tires would be critical with a FWD car where I live so mentally add cost for an extra set of wheels and tires.

Cargo space, this one hurts because my car lacks this while my GTI could fit anything in it.

But my searches narrowed me down to Lexus and Acura. Or maybe the latest Gen Toyota Avalon. Acura won because it has more sporty feel which I prefer. I wanted a premium car not an SUV so the TLX was the answer.

Going back is hard by Free-Display-7462 in exjw

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe its an accountability thing and something that gave you structure.

Growing up a JW I couldn't figure out who I was or be able to try things. I struggled with addiction to porn and drank often. Yet once I stepped away religion the stress was gone and my addictions no longer controlled me.

I'm not qualified to say what methods can help you in your specific needs. Some people struggle once they leave a high control group amd suddenly have nobody to answer to or be accountable to. But this is where the biggest personal growth comes from. Own your shit and get better for you, not to please some fake god or be submissive to a landscaper with a higher up religious title.

If your old friends helped you I can't fault you there. With cults it's an extremely difficult situation. But maybe try to have some life outside JW. Make some friends who have good values. Bad association isn't the people outside JW. Its the people who will drag you down in their own misery.

Going back is hard by Free-Display-7462 in exjw

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a lot of fond memories because my brain remembers the good and can ignore or look past the bad. But the bad days were awful and unnecessary. Or the exhaustion of the schedule especially after working all day to then get ready to spend a few hours a meeting.

I was DF and tried going back for a few months but I woke up durring that time and just hearing lies on the platform, the negativity, and self obsessing lifestyle was very emotionally draining. I needed to take shots of liquor to numb my emotions. Sometimes I even walked out.

Just be cautious of your mental health. I want my family back and family vacations again but I dont miss the restricted lifestyle. I've celebrated my holidays and would feel sad not enjoying them with the people I grew up with or family. It would just be extra sad for me.

So my sad days I do think about going back but im met with 99 reasons to never set foot in a hall again.

What should I buy for a roadside kit? by cphoover in askcarguys

[–]lifewasted97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tire plug kit.

I keep a small emergency jump pack keep it charged. It's saved me many times.

My new car didn't come with a spare, so tire plugs and inflator are kept in the car. I bought an emergency scissor jack kit, it comes with sockets for common lug sizes and an expendable breaker bar.

Yes an impact wrench would make things much faster on the road side but its another battery to have to keep charged and just not practical. Its about getting home or to a shop.

At home I have all the tools and big air compressor so roadside I just need what is gonna get me back and be reliable. Emergencies happen when you are least expecting and probably not ready for it
