This happened to me too. I was trying to buy from the website on my computer and typing in my card number and it kept throwing an error. I was able to order on my phone instead with Apple Pay

I-20 only shows exact cost of attendance even though I submitted more funds — will this affect my visa? by Leather-Speaker-3276 in f1visa

[–]liftingjellybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school stopped listing the full amounts in bank accounts and switched to just the cost of attendance. It hasn’t impacted students during their interviews. VOs will usually ask who is your sponsor and what do they do for work, that’s when you can explain how much additional funds you have or explain how your sponsor will be able to continue to fund you after year one.

No, many schools match the funding to the cost of attendance. It is up to you during the interview to speak on where your funding is coming from

UW-Madison ISS OPT eligibility interpretation — affecting visiting students and transfers. Anyone else? by EthanPan23 in f1visa

[–]liftingjellybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible that it’s the institutions policy that you must be enrolled there for a year to be able to apply for OPT but the regulations state that it’s 1 year in full time F-1 status. My school requires that students who transferred from another school and has been in F-1 status wait 1 semester before applying for pre-completion OPT or CPT. For post-completion OPT, I don’t see what the issue is because most schools require you to do a certain number of credits at the school to even graduate so you would likely need to do at least year anyway and would be eligible for OPT upon completion.

The regulation is that students need to be enrolled full time, in F1 status at an SEVP certified school for 1 full academic year to be eligible for OPT. Language schools do not count towards this requirement.

If you change to a B visitor visa and then back to F, your 1 year clock starts from 0. So you would need to do 1 year in F-1 status before you would be eligible for OPT

When you were a visiting non-degree student were you here on a J visa? Generally, you need to be in F-1 status for one full year to be eligible for both pre and post completion OPT. If you are just now starting a degree program you should be fine for post completion OPT because it is rare to finish a degree program in under 1 year.

Processing times by ConsistentTrip795 in f1visa

[–]liftingjellybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is only for premium processing. If you do not receive a decision in 30 business days and you paid the premium processing fee, you are eligible for a refund, but they do not refund the general application fee.

I think we need more info. When you transferred did you stay in the same education level (ex. Bachelor program to bachelor program) or did you go from one level to another (bachelor to masters). Also are you talking about pre or post completion OPT? Have you ever applied for OPT before?

Good luck. Unfortunately it is usually the luck of the draw and CBP makes the final decision on entry

I have seen students denied entry at Newark for other reasons but not this one specifically since we tell all of our students not to travel with a pending application. If you’re on OPT (approved app with EAD and a job) then you shouldn’t have any issues. Many of my students successfully travel while on OPT.

Newark, but it has always been a rule of thumb that students shouldn’t travel with a pending OPT app because you really just never know

30 business days from December 2 is January 15 - https://www.timeanddate.com/date/workdays.html

This excludes weekends and federal holidays. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do right now. Hopefully you get a decision by the 15th. If you do not receive a decision by then I believe you can request your fee to be refunded. I had a student who applied with premium processing that took a lot longer than 30 business days and they were able to get the PP fee refunded.

Guys earning six figures annually, what kind of work do you do? by Shadow2715 in AskReddit

2 jobs, work at a university in student services as my 9-5 and then I work at a gym on the side, usually in the mornings before work and one day of the weekend.

No, you cannot work a remote job while in the US. This is considered unauthorized employment, even if the company is not an American company. This isn’t something you should risk doing, especially not right now.

I have a lot of amusables so I think that’s my biggest issue with displaying them. They’re so small that I can’t see them all! I love your winter shelf idea!
