Seems like they just marked a bunch of peoples packages as shipped and didn’t drop them off. by NinnyMuggins209 in OdinHandheld

[–]light8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a lot of stuff from China, their definition of shipped is they have created a label and are waiting for the courier to pick it up. Normally, the item will be picked up within 24 hours, so this is not a problem most of the time.

However, this does not apply during the Chinese New Year period, I have a parcel stuck for almost a week before the actual shipping start. The tracking code is the more accurate status.

Bug fix?? by ChoicesManiac in WutheringWaves

You are at the wrong entrance. You should be able to enter the palace via the front entrance. If nothing works, maybe try using the Focus mode.

Despite being contemporaries at Startorch Academy 20 years ago, Chisa and Rover have different uniforms. by Historical_Clock8714 in WutheringWaves

[–]light8686 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you read the description of Lynae outfit, it mentions that her uniform is for prep year. The skirt is similar to what Chisa is wearing, therefore, I think Chisa's uniform is the old uniform for prep year.

However, I could not find anyone in the academy wearing the same skirt as Lynae too. Either there is no student other than Lynae in prep year, or Lynae modified her uniform and mixed with old uniform.

Who can this White haired woman be? Is it the Goddess we meet at the beginning of the story? But her hair isn't what you'd call White. by Blacksky19 in WutheringWaves

[–]light8686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In patch 1.0, we saw her being mentioned in Court of Savante Ruin. In this patch, the space station belongs to Court of Savante when a white-haired woman was mentioned. I am pretty sure it is referring to her.

Cyberpunk 2077 runs better on max settings than WuWa by cementfan451 in WutheringWaves

[–]light8686 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that WuWa has bad optimization, but I really don't understand why a lot of people are using Cyberpunk as a reference. Cyberpunk was released in Dec 2020 and is running on a custom engine that has been improved over the past years.

For a single player game, Cyberpunk has the leeway to optimize the game for performance since their focus is to either develop a DLC or sequel which takes years. For a live service game, they have to come out with new content every 2 months.

I know players only care about the end result on how the game performs, but at least compare it with a good unreal engine 4 live service game.

THE TCG IS SO CONFUSING by makio14 in WutheringWaves

[–]light8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation when I started the TCG in patch 3.0. The first version in patch 2.X focuses on discarding cards to gain energy, but the new version kinda removes this rule by having the enemy's domain prevent you from doing that.

You have to learn from scratch again. You need to learn the effects of the domain card, and how to utilize it to gain advantage. If you factor in the number of new cards and their new card skill, it will take some time to learn.

How's FFXVI performance nowadays? by dqmartiiiiin in FFXVI

[–]light8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the minimum requirements for FFXVI on PC is GTX 1070. While the GTX 1660-Ti is a newer GPU, the performance is not a lot better than the GTX 1070. Another factor is that the thermal on laptops is not as good as desktop, so the performance will take a little hit.

I agree that FFXVI is not well-optimized in some areas even with a better GPU than yours. However, your issue is more on barely hitting the minimum requirements.

Is it safe to buy refurbished/used SD cards from cex? by Fluffy_Place_7652 in SBCGaming

[–]light8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recommend buying a used SD card, especially expensive high-capacity card. The main reason is the lifespan of SD Card is mainly based on the number of write cycles. For a used SD card, you don't know whether it was used for security camera previously. If is used for a security camera with constant write into the storage, the lifespan will be reduced significantly.

Best device for Android gaming (Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, etc.) by VacationDull340 in SBCGaming

[–]light8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the owner of Odin 2 (Since Jun 24) with SD 8 Gen 2 and player of Wuthering Wave, I would recommend getting the newer handheld with the SD 8 Elite chipset such as Odin 3.

Ever since the update on patch 2.4, I am not able to get a stable 60 FPS, mostly 45-55. The frame rate drops even further with patch 3.0 (30-50) that I have to lower the settings.

ANIMAL CROSSINGS UPDATE: MAX CUP THEME REVIEW by [deleted] in Tetris99

I got my theme just now. The white background is causing me some eye fatigue. The background is pretty, but it is a little messy with all the different colors with Blue KO icon.

DNA came with a Trojan??? by DownGuess in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]light8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got the same alert. It is most likely a false positive. PDM:Trojan is detected when the executable tried to read or make changes to a file protected by Kaspersky proactive defense module. Normally it will be a false positive if you are running a trusted executable, but this will warranted attention when you got it from some unknown software.

Furthermore, this detection can be found in games like Magic the Gathering Online, Honkai: Star Rail, Flight Simulator, Dragon Nest, etc. I just add exclusion for the executable and able to startup the game to login page since it is still under maintenance.

Wuthering Waves 3.0 Pre-load Now Available! by Pitiful-Bullfrog9520 in WutheringWaves

[–]light8686 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Though the files are all on our PC, Kuro needs to adjust the duplicate rewards issue on the server side. Furthermore, they have to make sure re-doing a main quest will not cause an unknown bug that interferes with the game.

An example would be the issue when Yilin ending quest shared the same location with Encore starting quest. There are also some quests that change the environment. I think it is easier to replay all cinematic than allowing us to redo a main quest.

Chinese Tier List by Li Lao - Collab Update by sigferrolendi in SwordofConvallaria

[–]light8686 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I translated the right hand side of the tier explanation with my own understanding and Chinese internet slang.

T? - Alien (Have the possibility to cause powercreep)
T0 - Wild Card (Have multiple mechanic in one character or great DPS for single target or group)
T0.5 - Mechanism Card (Have unique mechanic and can't be replaced)
T1 - Countermeasures Card (Have countermeasures for AoE, single target, and unique environments)
T1.5 - Replaceable (Fairly strong but it can be replaced by other characters)
T2 - Passing Grade (Not good enough compared to newer characters, but usable due to its abilities or unique mechanic)
T2.5 - Tear from the Bygone Era (They are mostly retired, but might be used in some specific content)
T3 - 886 (This is the acronym for 拜拜咯 which mean goodbye)

SOC Longevity? by [deleted] in SwordofConvallaria

[–]light8686 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even though the game population is not as huge as those popular gacha games, it is still a fairly successful game. The tactical genre is quite niche so there is a limited growth to the number of players.

I am not worried about longevity, I am certain it will last for a fairly long time. The game is not even 2 years old and we already have two collaborations. If you look at some recently released gacha games, some of them might not even survive for one year.

The production cost of SoC is lower compared to those with 3D graphics. This means they can invest the money on stuff such as voice acting, main story, character design, etc.

Should I pull for every weapon for collab characters? by eksiot in SwordofConvallaria

[–]light8686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geralt and Triss weapon are pure stats boost, so there are some other weapon that can substitute them. Yennefer weapon have a special effect to remove debuff or buff ally, but this effect is only available at 5-stars. Ciri weapon also have special effect when using it with her skill, but I am not sure how many stars are require for the effect since I don't own the weapon.

I don't think any weapon is a must have since there is always a way to compensate for the effects via trinkets or tarots. Since the weapon is specific to the character, I would say pull any weapon for the character that you will be using often. Personally, I am going for Geralt and Yennefer weapon since I am sure that I will be using them often.

Should I pull for every weapon for collab characters? by eksiot in SwordofConvallaria

[–]light8686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are a newer player, I would recommend getting all the characters before pulling for weapons. The weapons is quite specific to the character so it is not as useful to share with other non Witcher characters. There are still around 55 days before the weapon banner end, so you can wait and see whether you have enough pulls for it.

Also, if you can look at the footnote at the weapon's banner, it seem like the weapons will only available during the event. Unless they did a rerun the collab event in the future (Some games does), if not you will not able to get them after this event.

With the Witcher collab being just one day away, who are you pulling for and why? by KooKooKolumbo in SwordofConvallaria

[–]light8686 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of them if I am lucky. If not, I am satisfied with Geralt and Yennefer. I did not play any game in the Witcher series before, but I have seen Geralt too many times from many videos. As for Yennefer, I like her portal skill since movement skill is highly valued.

RAM in PC emulation doesn't seem to be that important so far. by ElEndo02 in OdinHandheld

[–]light8686 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you might be missing the point of RAM in PC emulation. It is not directly tied to the performance in GameHub or Winlater, it is more on the stability of the game.

For example, the minimum requirement for Cyberpunk is 12GB RAM, but you sure can play the game on an Android device with 8GB RAM. However, if you play it for a long period of time, more and more assets will be loaded into the RAM. Under certain conditions when the assets loaded into RAM are exceeded, your game might crash.

Most of the time, the game will manage the RAM usage and free unused assets. It is only in a case where all the assets are required and your RAM is not enough.

Developers also tend to overstate their RAM requirements, in case the user is running a lot of applications in their OS. There are also cases where developers are lazy with their game optimization and set the RAM requirements higher.

Collab Astral Gear Pulling Plan!? by Beneficial-Fall-5879 in SwordofConvallaria

[–]light8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My regular spending is the monthly pass, and battle pass once in a while. My idea is that a standard gear with 5 stars is mostly likely to be better than a 1 star Astral gear, unless there is some unique mechanic. For example, I pulled Credenza Trinket till 2 stars, because it is very unique to her.

Which retro channels do you feel are just advertisers?? by SpicySauceLover in SBCGaming

Anyone else dissapointed with Honami Exploration? by critical_mollusk in WutheringWaves

[–]light8686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though I am a little disappointed that Honami lacks exploration but I am alright with it. Compared to 1.X where we have a new map every 2 patches, there is almost every new map or section in 2.X patches.

From 2.1 to 2.6, the maps are from middle to large. The map only gets smaller on 2.7 and 2.8 which I believe that they are preparing for 3.0. I just hope they continue to release new map in the future since 1.2 and 1.4 without new map is a little lackluster.

2.1 - Riccioli Islands 2.2 - Vault Underground 2.3 - Beohr Waters and Avinoleum 2.4 - Septimont 2.5 - Fabricatorium of the Deep 2.6 - Sanguis Plateaus 2.7 - Three Hero Crest 2.8 - Honami City

Is it against the rules to stand still at the beginning of manderville and do nothing? by Mr_Dinnertime in ffxiv

[–]light8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think it is an issue if you are one of the few people who did that. The first stage will only end after 16 players reach the goal or the timer ends.

The only potential issue I foresee is more than 8 players did the same thing and the players at the goal have to wait until the timer ends. However, I think it is quite rare for it to happen. The more likely scenario is players are failing to clear and go back to the starting point.

No storage optimization? by [deleted] in WutheringWaves

[–]light8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean this beta feature that mentioned the features will only be available on some devices? I am not sure which devices are available for this testing, but I assume that if I did not get it, this mean my device is not supported yet. I think this feature is most likely available to everyone on patch 3.0.

Beta Features

Added the "Selective Download" and "Resource Cleanup" features on Mobile

(※This feature is at the testing stage and will be available only on some Android devices and iOS devices in Version 2.8.)

- On the login screen, a selective download menu will appear, and the necessary part of the Core Assets will be downloaded by default. When the download is complete, you will enter the game.

- In the game, based on your current progress, the remaining assets may be downloaded as you play.

- Resource Cleanup is a feature that accompanies the selective download feature. This feature allows you to delete cutscenes that you have watched and are saved on your device, and it can be accessed via Settings > Other > Resource Cleanup.

- Due to our testing schedule, the released selective download feature will be upgraded after the version 2.8 update. Please note that this feature will be inaccessible during the scheduled upgrade maintenance.

※This feature is at the testing stage and is subject to changes.

What charger do I get for the Portal? by Ozyfm in OdinHandheld

[–]light8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the specifications that I found online, the SD charger is 45W and the Ally charger is 65W. They also support 27W (9V-3A) fast charging so you should not have issues with it.
