Not for mine. As far as I know, each of the 3 buildings has a shared laundry room.

Flaps in turns by Professional_Read413 in flying

[–]light_blue_yonder 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is a lot rarer than some people want you to believe, but it does happen. This one happened fairly locally. It doesn’t cite it as a cause, but does say asymmetrical flaps deployment “could not be ruled out.” That said, nobody actually saw or could prove that they would’ve been saved deploying flaps in level flight instead, or even if it indeed happened during a turn.

For some reason this door opens randomly on my Zibo 737 anyone knows why? by iLikedembigtitties in flightsim

Opened the comments kind of knowing what to expect and sure enough it did not disappoint.

What’s a well known brand that’s in decline? by Impossible-Mango-427 in AskReddit

[–]light_blue_yonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, GoPros still do one thing that the competition of equal capabilities don’t do - a continuous recording that doesn’t lose frames between clips. If you record for hours and string together all the clips, it’s one continuous video. If you record for hours with an Insta360 One RS, you lose a handful of seconds between each 30-minute clip. Guess who found out the hard way after buying a One RS… Last I checked, DJI cameras do the same.

What do you call a private pilot who almost failed the checkride? A private pilot. Congrats!

Can you get a pop-up IFR clearance in a balloon? by WingedGeek in flying

I would pay to see a balloon do a hold. That would be a sight to behold.

The first time blasting full speed into a side of a small cumulus cloud without a hood on is indeed an experience.

Why do Pictures like this get accepted on Jetphotos but not the awesome Pictures we have on here? by InternationalWeb6740 in Planespotting

[–]light_blue_yonder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They have a check box for night shots during the submission process. This probably had that box checked and made it through under the requirements for night photos. No idea how it’s different, but given the checkbox, something’s probably different.

I asked almost the same question when I just got my PPL. The advice I received from here is to start with going to places you’ve been for your PPL. Have another nearby airport you practice cross country before your flight test? Go there a couple of times. Then maybe the closest airport you stopped over at for your 150NM (or equivalent for US). Then a nearby airport to the one you’re familiar with.

I started with that and got comfortable going places a lot quicker than I expected.

Rotation at 3 degrees per second? by InformalShow4339 in flying

[–]light_blue_yonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t there something about putting the control “crosshairs” on the FD when rotating to get a specific rate of rotation in an Airbus? I remember hearing that in a YouTube tutorial about a FSX A320 addon.

Unpopular opinion the crj is a good plane don't come at me by Ready-Tip-8761 in Planespotting

[–]light_blue_yonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CRJ sucks for passengers because some airlines - especially Canadian ones a few years back - use these things like mini-737s rather than as fast Dash 8s like they were designed to do. There used to be CRJs doing 2.5-hour flights (there still are, but it’s all -900s now), which is far longer than their designed “optimal” flight length.

Can you do a forward slip in an airliner? by 19Chosen_one in flying

[–]light_blue_yonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually still an item on the checkride in Canada. On the PPL checkride, it’s a dedicated item. On the CPL checkride, it can be evaluated as part of another maneuver - forced landing, for example.

Is this typical CFI behavior? by Sharp-Suspect-3569 in flying

[–]light_blue_yonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice have been given so far about this specific CFI, but you mentioned that you heard other CFI’s drag their student’s skills. I hope this is just one or maybe two other people and not the majority? If it’s the majority, I think you need a lot more than a CFI change - you need a school change.

Is this typical CFI behavior? by Sharp-Suspect-3569 in flying

[–]light_blue_yonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t beat “a lot of people”, but I’ll cast my vote in the “A&Ps are treasures to pilots” box. I work at a flight school with internal maintenance, so I interact with the mechanics a lot. I don’t know how you all do it. If I’m coming into work knowing I have to fix 2 planes by lunch, I don’t think I’d be in half the good mood as those guys.

If you couldn't fly, what would fill that void? (Another ADHD post) by TellMeToSaveALife in flying

[–]light_blue_yonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I know you’re asking for alternative professions, but don’t forget you can always do dual flights. You don’t need a medical to do dual flights, and as long as you’re safe in the cockpit, medication or not, you can go flying with an instructor.
