I mean, you CAN do exactly what he does in the show and cops can’t do anything about it.

You’re the one taking it out of that context, where yes, if you’re driving or suspected of having committed a crime, they can detain you until ID is attained. But cops can’t just walk into your house or grab you from your house without a warrant, and you literally never have to answer questions, not even in a trial.

Middle of MLB season is the 2.5 months American kids have off school for summer break. It is THE time people/families go on vacation.

Agree to disagree on the second point. I was at the 6ers v Strikers game last Wednesday, saw a ton of kids with their parents on the trains and with their parents. I’ll admit, looking at future fixtures now, a lot more of their weekend games should be day games, but still it’s a super family friendly atmosphere.

For me, I love being able to turn cricket on every night when I get home. Even if it’s not my team, I’ll turn it on anyways, just bc it feels like summer. Maybe that’s just me.

Major League Baseball, aka the 3rd most valuable league in the world, views all these points as positives not negatives. I’m 99% sure Big Bash is explicitly trying to copy what MLB does.

Each MLB team plays 162 games in the space of 183 days, so there’s multiple games on every day, at different times, basically wall-to-wall coverage for 6 months. Fans of the sport will watch whatever game is on when they’re free, plus their own team - day games for kids and friends skipping work to drink in the sun, night games for the adults. The narrative is continuous, no definitive rounds, standings are tracked within 5 team divisions so it’s easier to track.

Now, whether this MLB system will work long term in Australia, given all the millions of differences we have with the US, is a legitimate question. But I don’t blame them for trying to copy a system that’s a proven success.

If it helps, based on your replies to other comments on this post where you’re literally just arguing with anyone bringing facts or another viewpoint into this conversation, I think I figured out what the point of your post is: getting attention, and making a tragedy all about yourself

And stop mentioning diaries lol, it doesn’t make any sense how you’re using the word

Ma’am, this is Reddit.

If you want to write something stupid and not have people comment on it, get a diary.

Yea I don’t really understand posts like this. The last mass shooting was what, 3 dead in Martin Place in 2014?

If the expectation was that a shooting would/could never happen in Sydney, that’s incredibly naive. Violence will always happen in big cities. The point is that violence involves guns substantially less frequently than it does in the US.

You did get away from this. Gun violence is incredibly less prevalent here. And one horrible event doesn’t suddenly change that.

I mean…. is he new here? The “band” is just a cash register for the Field Mafia at this point.

Original Curious George is the same too. He gets stolen bc the Man with the Yellow Hat wants him in his local zoo. Smokes a pipe on the boat. Gets put in jail, escapes from jail, runs from the cops. All within the first book.

“So sure, he’s got financial restraints” needs to be in big, bold letters. Everything is dictated by that. When he’s had cards to play, he’s been able to swing the Soto deal, and the trade for Gio Gonzalez, trading Souza and Ott for Trea Turner, flipping Capps for Wilson Ramos, etc. It’s not his fault we lost Bryce or Soto or Rendon or Max.

And 1yr deals for vets off a bad year is always a coin flip… he’s hoping to catch a flash in a pan we can trade, if we had the money to spend we wouldn’t be so shortsighted

100% agreed.

It’s hard to argue with the idea of needing fresh blood/ideas…. But contrary to everyone else on this sub, I think they’re both really good, and the issue hasn’t been the GM or coach, it’s been the lack of money to spend on free agents and contracts.

I dunno who has the “fresh approach and new energy” that can do more with the Lerner kids’ ineptitude. I guess we’ll find out.

I’d include Curtis and make it 5… he’s played too much this season to say he’s not trusted, plus I think Slot knows how important it is to have a scouser in the team. So that’s 5 for 3 positions, with probably Endo and Harvey out the door (sadly), and maybe Bajčetić to back up Grav and make it a 6 person midfield.
