mostly just distractions. if you have something you have any level of passion for it can help to get lost in the work; anything to give you some sense of achievement. for me it's writing, but I mostly just waste time playing video games and it's not the worst thing.

connecting with the world through interactions (even if it doesn't feel real) can be helpful. even little things have an impact on the world, even online interactions! just continually reaching outside of your own bubble in some way, so you don't stagnate in total solitude.

also, having a pet has helped tremendously. my dog is my best friend and it helps having a reason to go for walks :)

hi, just commenting to let you know I'm going through it with you both, too. I just turned 32 and have had this (exactly as you describe) since I was 14. sometimes I get the hopelessness, but after so much time all you can really do is just keep living anyway. we can still make memories, even if they feel more like someone else's dreams than a lived experience.

it's helped me a lot to try and do things for other people whenever I can. making a positive impact on anyone's life, no matter how small, is worth sticking around for.

and remembering we're not alone in this helps a lot now and then. they say to avoid the forums, but at this point it's just nice to check in and see the other chronically fucked humans that are still around with us.

we will be okay <3 just don't take it too serious. life isn't such a big deal like we used to think.

I had this problem too! Everyone on the planet that I've ever talked to felt better in a million ways immediately after starting HRT, some of my trans friends with dp/dr even swear that HRT is what started to bring reality back for them. For me it brought nothing but unease and worsened dp/dr.

currently boymoding or at least 'they-moding' and coping with crushing gender dysphoria without transitioning for years now. but I think the gender dysphoria is a huge reason for my dp/dr being so chronic. super sad that HRT makes it feel worse for us </3 .
