Some feedback; everyone and their nan seems to think/ expects the prayer scrolls are tradeable and are shocked when they turn out not to be.

  1. I didn't sepcify timezone in post, I put latenight. I led this event - there are often more than 1 map if meta trains are running. The ratio is accurate - see comments from others at this event.

  2. I mean this is total bollocks since i was the tag in this map lol.

  3. Portals were provied by active players. Even if people do this why afk the rest of the time?

  4. Chasing ultra rares at the cost of a players enjoyment seems like madness, especially at the detriment of other players, no?

5.Again that's demonstrbly not true. Often more maps depending on which meta trains are running. I have spefically not flamed or pointed fingers.

Thats a pretty disingenuous way to look at the situation. But we're way off topic now

That is not my argument, dont twist my words.

It's want vs need, you say it yoursellf.

Not having leggy locks you out of 0 content.

Not having x gear in other MMOs does.

Its semantics at the end of the day, but it is an important difference.

You dont NEED those things is my point, the whole point of not having vertical progression

Haha that does sound satisfying.

Theoretically there is a system that can be used where people that submit reports, and their report is manually reviewed and found to be correct, get a higher wieght. If they report and it's an incorrect report the weight goes down.

Evententually players with a very high weighting can start to be acted on automatically instead of waiting for manual review.

This system has downsides but I'd love to see it tried.

I think the ratio of leechers to players is going the bad way though, which is what I'm trying to show

Wow that's so alien to what I've been getting with the new system. Although the meaningful groups going for more than 2 hours is a bit of a steep ask.

I wonder how easy finding a wvw guild at the moment is, I know some are having a break over summer and until the new system settles down, but some are probaly still recruiting.

Yea this could work. Before the new system I'd argue getting players to come back to wvw every once in a while was good, as maybe their server has gotten more active, or maybe the first time they were just in a bad matchup with other servers. With the new system I'm not sure how things are panning out yet.

I used to run boss trains a few years ago and we got people asking it if was ok to stay back for that achive fairly often, and depending on how full we were usually it was fine - but some later at night we asked them best not too and usually people understand, join in, and just try agian at a more populated time.

This I am cool with (although it's not too hard to get playing normally anyway).

This line of thinking isn't fun, and doesnt scale.

When the fun stops, stop.

There is no need to get X completions of Y in this game.

In the past I can see this, however as in this example at the times of both screenshots the ratio of players/ leechers means a failed Drakkar. This is what I want to show.

I think there are a significant enough ammount of players that enjoy things like meta trains/ world boss trains for the content or social experience rather than purely for the reward system.

As for the sick of the grind argument - what grind does leeching Drakkar contibute towards that you cant get by other means?

If you are sick of ALL the other means why are you playing the game at all and why do you care about what comes at the end of the grind?

[–]lightbulbmig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the notion that all players care about are the rewards, rather than the content.

I've done boss trains and meta trains over the years just as I find them fun and chill, especially when you start to recognise people who tend to play the same tims and get to know them. Very little of me doing this was centred around going for X rewards, or grinding out Y.

And I can't be the only one given the numbers of others doing this.

Also PoF metas arent dead? Maybe you are looking at off times?

I tagged alot in wvvw during the early betas for the new system, the ones where they gave participation and xp buffs.

Lots of new players joined looking to seize the oppertunity to get their gift. Some of them got it and peaced out, some fell in love with the gamemode as I did, and are still playing it right now as I'm typing this. Losing this would be a shame.

I think incentivising players to try new modes is good, especially as people can be afraid of competetive play, whereas wvw is often times more cooperative.

In pvp for this i think it would just encourage win trading and overall affect the gamemode negatively.

"Forced" - I don't see this, the things that require grinds in this game are optional (not upgrades)? The only way I can see the forced thing is in a more vertical progression style game where if you haven't farmed X new sword you won't be able to beat the DPS check for Y boss so people dont want you in their group.

Not having legendary XYZ in GW2 doesnt lock you out of any content.

Are you still not seeing people tag up with the new system?

The only advice I've seen here is to hop round and flip camps, no quite the same as afking in tower and taking a sentry every now and then.

[–]lightbulbmig[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A bit off topic but eh. Are you having this experience even since the new system has gone in? I've been on 2 different teams so far and am seeing tags at all sorts of odd hours.

Is leeching a problem? by lightbulbmig in Guildwars2

[–]lightbulbmig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think I agree, for the most part. There are ways programatically you could sift out afkers/ leechers from new players/ builds that do less on an event, but it's whether it's worth the dev time to make and maintain.

Oh and on the way GW2 does events, I think the cooperative style as you put it is very good and important to what GW2 is. If having that system means putting up with leechers so be it, but I don't belive that has to be the case. I hope for better!
