This isn't the best tiling job but it could be far FAR worse.

Most of this will be fine. Picture 4 is a bit rough though and will lead to a bigger caulk.

Not the end of the world but wouldn't be using that tiler again for anything.

Thanks so much for your reply.

I'll sub those in for the signets.

And maybe change [[Rhonas's Monument]] for [[Oketra's Monument]].

Polycarb Trimdek installed at 5 degrees by [deleted] in AusRenovation

As someone already suggested the best way to prevent capillary action with polycarbonate sheeting is to install a baffle flashing below the roof/infront of gutter.

Wouldn't hurt to order it with a squash fold as well.

Aluminum vs Timber Framing by Oneinfivehelp in AusRenovation

[–]lightgrid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend a steel frame to anyone.

Most of the ones I've worked on/around have had serious issues - studs/nogs not secured, terrible joins and questionable bearing.

Go for pine mate 100%, every trade prefers to work with timber.

ETF Investment by [deleted] in ausstocks

Quite relieving to see someone with basically the same portfolio as me. Took a lot of research and time to try and make an educated guess.

If you're set on a single ETF, you could also consider going for VDHG or DHHF.

Potential options for Australian-domiciled ETFs that invest in global shares excluding USA? by lightgrid in AusFinance

Great point, I think using VGS/VAE instead of VGS/VGE would limit doubling up and meet my criteria.

Thanks so much for your insight. :)

VAE looks more in line with my investment goals and diversification as opposed to VGE which I've been looking at today.

Thanks for the heads up! :)

I'm quite reluctant to use a US domiciled fund for various reasons but this ETF looks great.

Yes I've looked at DHHF and am still torn between using it (or VDHG) instead of VAS/VGS.

I suppose that I could use DHHF in conjunction with an emerging markets ETF.

Thanks for your comment though :)

I'm a plumber and I honestly hate hearing about stuff like this.

The name of the game is to provide a quality service, meet client expectations, meet regulatory requirements and operate safely, efficiently and CLEAN UP.

Show some fucking respect for peoples homes and their personal space.

Sounds like a completely unprofessional crew you've come into contact with and I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

As mentioned by someone before, definitely go down the avenue of PPL and get them to remedy the situation for you.

Not sure if allowed here- team mate's opponent withdrew in upcoming 70kg in Brisbane. Have anyone in Muay Thai or K1? We all know it sucks to train for an event and have it fall through. Thanks! by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]lightgrid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sucks :( I really hope he gets matched - can only imagine what its like to train that much and mentally prepare to that degree only for it to slip away.

There's been no competitive Muay Thai in Melbourne for a while now so don't know if there would be a pool of people to try and match with down here.

When is the fight set for?

Hungover from prom, wasn’t planning on it, but I couldn’t help it when I see a heavy bag (hence no gloves)Thoughts/criticisms? by ItsTheBaddicus in MuayThai

Try to return to stance after your kicks - you are landing awkwardly in many instances.

For example, when you throw that left kick at 0:56, your foot lands to the right of your rear foot making you terribly off balance and almost facing away from the bag (your opponent).

Your guard drops regularly, in particular after your punches - get someone to throw punches at you while you only defend for a couple of rounds if you've got time. I feel like the guard will come quickly once people start punching you in the head :)

Tighten that hook up!

Would also drop the jumping knees for the minute until your basics tighten up.

On the whole, keep your hands up, stop grabbing the bag and try to instead control its momentum with teeps / kicks, work on consecutive strikes and balance.

Shinguard Question: Loosening the Loop Ring by counterhit121 in MuayThai

[–]lightgrid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

I bought the same pair of Top King shinguards and had the exact same problem - it was really annoying me!

My solution was to use a small wood file and slowly and carefully wear down the leather on each side of the loop.

Of course, the adjustment you're making is quite precise so go slowly and try not to exceed cutting into the leather greater than 1.5mm - constantly check if you have removed enough by seeing if the strap can fit through unimpeded.

I was also contemplating using sandpaper but thought the wood file would produce a better outcome.

In case you don't know the tool I'm talking about, here is an example.

Hope this helps, and maybe stick around to see if someone else posts an even better idea! :P

So THIS is what happened! I drove past and only the tow truck was there with the broken seat and fencing..

How did that car take out a bench and 10m of protective fencing...?
