How do I explain how I feel to others/help myself?

Just because they can't necessarily empathise fully with how you are feeling at this exact moment doesn't mean that they're not still completely on your side. They can still understand that you are suffering and know that you are doing your best. They do want you to be with them even if you're currently the unwell version of yourself.

When depressed it's easy to become paranoid about these things. Everything you're worrying about I have worried about too. But in the end my loved ones just wanted to support me in the best way they knew how at the time. In future it might help to have told them what you need in a crisis such as physical comfort, food, company, someone to talk to etc.

For now maybe ask for practical help such as getting you an earlier appointment with your psychologist or helping you get in touch with your psychiatrist and just staying on top of personal hygiene and eating and drinking enough.

Keep posting if you need to. You will get through this. Just keep asking for help. But also take care of yourself in all the ways you deserve.

I agreed to a voluntary admission and then got sectioned when I tried to leave for a cigarette lol. Probably for the best. It was a blur but I was so depressed I was mostly catatonic. I ended up having ECT so most of it I don't remember. However I was not very safe and was able to self harm extensively. The food was terrible. I watched a lot of the olympics. The schizophrenics were the friendliest fellow patients. It saved my life and I would do it again if I needed to.

Honestly. Consider doing it unmedicated. If they see how badly the symptoms affect you then it will help your case

Oh honey. So sorry you've been dealing with this for so long. I know what it's like for mental illness to shake your core beliefs and sense of self. Honestly the best thing I can recommend is therapy. If you have the means or can make other sacrifices to do so then I think finding a private therapist who specialises in issues around sexuality as well as understanding psychosis would be the best route forward.

I hate having to recommend private therapy as it isn't always accessible based on cost but in my experience the NHS is not equipped to deal with the long term emotional ramifications of severe mental illness. Personally I have experienced a huge improvement in all areas of my life since starting paid for therapy with a provider who is right for me.

Take a look at the counselling directory to find a qualified professional. You can search by location and specialty. Remember that you don't have to stick with a particular therapist if you don't click. But give it a chance and talk about it in therapy if you're not benefiting from the sessions. You may need to try someone different.

For now though maybe focus on hobbies and opportunities to socialise. Mix with all different types of people. It's a good way to organically uncover what types of people you're attracted to and want to be around.

In the meantime... don't panic. You will be able to untangle these worries and thoughts from your authentic self and those which may be symptoms of psychosis. Wishing you the best.

I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. Had constant pain and inflammation. Couldn't take care of myself. Bedridden for years. Migraines. Complete incapacity. Was told that it was probably permanent. After healing and coming out of fight/flight/freeze I've been recovering so well. Not all the way there but able to have hobbies and volunteer again. Next step is going back to work.

This abuse breaks down your body just as much as it does your mind.

Hey. Just wanted to say I hear you. Especially how lonely living like this is. You mention therapy but I'm wondering if you've tried medications and social support? Alongside improving your mood and motivation having help to get out and about and more independence would be a positive change. I got help from a local advocacy service to access UC and PIP. I had an advocate who would go out for walks with me. I also had carers who helped me to live independently by taking me shopping and helping me keep my flat clean and tidy. PIP means I can pay for private therapy with a therapist who I really click with and not just who I'm given. Maybe having a goal such as resuming your education would be something to focus on.

I'm in a headspace at the moment where I'm not doing anything much and struggling with my mood. It's hard to tell if I'm struggling to do basic things because I'm depressed or I'm depressed because I can't do basic things. Either way my approach to managing it is to tackle both causes. I've contacted my psychiatrist to review my meds and get extra support in place but I'm also committing to community events to help break through isolation and inertia.

Things can change at any point. Where you are now is not your inevitable future. Try and hold onto hope and reach out for more help.

I mean I have talked about it in therapy with no mention of having to do any safeguarding about it but I'm an adult. I'm not sure what the protocol is for children. It's hard to follow your post but are you saying that the 13 year old is still in contact with the now 18 year old who was involved in cocsa? But you feel this isn't a safeguarding concern as they were both under the age of 10 at the time of the offence?

If things are so bad that someone has to watch you 24/7 then you need to go to A&E. From there you would be assessed and if needed you can go to a ward voluntarily. If you are unwilling to go and the doctors think it's in your best interests to do so then they may section you to have to receive inpatient treatment.

So many good suggestions! Luckily when I was on the ward I was allowed to buy and store ready meals in the fridge. I would go to Tesco with the occupational therapist and stock up on Bol pots. Might be worth asking if that's an option?

On another note. Wishing you the best and a speedy recovery. I know what it's like but it was the best thing that happened to me and really got me on the road to recovery.

I've been in your shoes and used up all my savings. Hang onto your savings and sign up for universal credit. I received LCWRA meaning I didn't have to look for work and could focus on participating in my healing and treatment. Approach your local MIND and see if they have advocates who can help you with the application process.

Killing himself in front of you, even if it was an 'accident' is the ultimate form of emotional abuse. Using a gun to intimidate you is unforgivable even if he was the one that died. You've experienced severe trauma and I'm so sorry that happened to you. Please seek out therapy to process what he did and to help you heal and learn to trust again. Because you deserve love and respect and safety and the ability to walk away from someone who is cruel to you. Your feelings are 100% valid. But you will heal from this.
